Around 4 hours, Appa arrived at the South Pole. Sokka had immediately noticed; he was over excited to see his sister and the Avatar. He ran over to Suki and grabbed her hand and pulled her toward where the bison was landing. But to their surprise no one was with Appa.
"Where are Aang and Katara?" Suki wondered aloud.
Then they spotted the note attached to Appa's horn.
"What are you doing, Suki?" Sokka shouted.
She ignored him and got the note.
It read,
"Dear Sokka and Suki,
I am really sorry, but we won't make it to your wedding. We had some difficulties on the way down to the South Pole. I sent Appa to give you this letter to explain why we couldn't make it.
There should be a bag in Appa's saddle, in there is a note I received earlier today when I realized that Katara went missing. I'm sorry, but I want to stay on the trail. I can't let them get away. I will get her back, and when I do we will be sure to go down to the South Pole to visit. Apologies again.
~Aang"

Suki thought about it for a moment before realizing that Aang meant Katara had got captured. She looked back into the saddle and saw the bag that he was talking about in the note. She climbed off Appa's head onto the saddle and grabbed the bag. She immediately dumped it out to find a few coins and the note. She read the note then called Sokka over to read both of the notes. He was even more surprised than Suki. He had fear in his eyes and tears about to run down his face. Suki climbed off of Appa.
"You know what this means right." Suki asked.
"That Katara has been captured by some stupid group?" He asked sort of angrily.
"No, Sokka. We have to postpone the wedding. We need to help Aang get your sister back."
Sokka's eyes went from fear and rage to concerned and sad.
"But.. Are you sure?" Sokka hesitated a moment, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Sokka, it's okay. I love you and you know that. I'm fine with postponing the wedding to go find your sister. But you need to hurry and go tell your dad. I'm going to go pack some stuff I'll see you in an hour."
Suki finished right before she ran off to their hut.
Sokka whispered to Appa, "Don't go anywhere. We will be back soon."
Then Sokka took off in the hope to find his dad soon.

Within an hour's time he found his dad, told him what was going on, and set off on Appa with Suki. Everything was going smoothly.

Aang reached the place they had told him on the note. It seemed abandoned. He walked around looking for any signs of them still being there. There were none. He decided that it was okay to go inside of the old building.
It was dark, damp, and falling in. There wasn't much to see.
'Where would they have put her?' He thought.
A few moments later he arrived at the big doors that Katara had been at when she saw Ozai.
He opened the doors. No one was there of course, but there was something on the table.
Out of curiosity, Aang ran across the room, not knowing of the booby-traps. He set off one that sent fire at him from 4 directions. He easily avoided it, but was still startled.
'Me and these booby-traps again,' he muttered to himself, recalling the time he had set off a trap on a Fire Nation ship in the South Pole while with Katara.
He then carefully airbent himself onto the table of where the paper was. It was rolled up.
As soon as he picked it up, a necklace fell out. It was Katara's necklace.
Tears came to his eyes knowing that they really did have her. He then unrolled the paper to read a small note with a new destination.
'They're going to keep relocating her until they catch me.' He concluded.

It was getting late, and Aang had walked over the entire premises. He was getting tired.
It wasn't safe to sleep, for all he knew they could still be around, watching his every move.
But he didn't care anymore. He just wanted Katara back safely. He laid down on the ground hoping to sleep. He couldn't. His thoughts of Katara kept him awake.

Suddenly, he heard Appa. He jumped up to see that indeed it was Appa but it was Sokka and Suki as well.
