Looking at the infernal beeping of the metal detector, sharing irritated looks was a natural thing to do. Those looks didn't lessen, they seemed to grow as an apparent ticket man came over.
“Can I see your invitations, please?” He asked civilly.
“Yes, you may.” Charles responded while using his powers on the unsuspecting male in front of them. “These three are with me.” He said while briefly glancing at his three companions, who though still looking a little tense by the moment, seemed also rather acceptant that they weren't going to have any trouble.
“Go ahead.” The man shrugged casually and stepped aside as they all made their way into the event. The green finely trimmed grass was decked out with chairs. Some of which were already being used, but for the most part people who were attending seemed to wish to mill around and walk about.
The news reporters naturally were some of those which were getting a lot of exercise in with walking about. The cameras were set up on tripods, and reports stood close by with microphones tightly gripped in their hands. They were all looking around expectedly, patiently waiting for this whole thing to get started.
“Why is it that I do not have a positive feeling about this. I am not feeling positive. Anyone else feeling huge negative vibes? Just me?” Margo questioned while sitting down and looking to Hank and Logan, they were still standing in the grassy aisle.
Charles looked to her and smiled. “Nervous.”
“I think apprehensive is more appropriate.”
“They're more or less the same thing.”
“Nah-huh, one sounds fancier.” Margo saw fit to state while tensing and looking to the side as someone went to sit next to her, only to think otherwise and moved further up the front. “It's being around this many people.” Her eyes flicked to look at Charles. “For one, I am not used to it. And two, if things go south, there's going to be a lot of hurting happening.”
“Hm,” he responded with a frown and looked around. “Though I do agree with you, we cannot do anything about that.” Though it would look mighty suspicious and odd if they tried to shoo people away and out of the event. With a sigh he shook his head, reaching over he held her hand tightly and patted it. “Everything will be fine.”
“I'll trust you on that.” She whispered while looking around and then back at him. “Time to find her then, huh?”
“Indeed,” Charles let her hand go and looked around. With this many people around Raven could be anywhere and anyone. With a determined expression he sought to trying to locate his sister. He frowned deeply, “Haven't found her yet, but she has to be here.” He said while looking at his companions as they took to looking around too. As if they were going to just be able to find her. Raven had all the skills and know how to be invisible, and she was extremely good at it. The only way they could find her is if she wished to be found.
“Shit,” Margo rubbed her forehead and looked up at the podium. Personally, authority figures never sat well with her. There was something about one person projecting rules over everyone else, it was too much. And more often than not those rules were there to be broken, and they usually did end up broken and shattered anyway.
Nixon positioned himself behind the podium and looked out at the faces in front of him. “My fellow Americans, today, we face the greatest threat in our history: Mutants.” He said sternly and seriously.
Seeing as how Charles was concentrating on finding Raven, Margo took to exchanging a look with Logan and Hank. They too seemed to up their guard with those simply spoken words.
