Waking up to blinding white wasn't exactly the best wake up greeting he could ask for. Hospital, Charles was in hospital. Obviously he would be, he rolled his eyes and frowned lightly. He wasn't alone in this room. He wasn't on a ward, and it wasn't a nurse, nor patient. A visitor. He had a silent visitor in his room.
Looking slowly to the side he couldn't help but look a little confused. Clearly engrossed in her book, Margo was oblivious to him being awake and slightly moving. He pushed himself – albeit painfully and achingly – onto his elbows. Where he hadn't been up and moving about he found he couldn't stay pushed up for long. So he ended up just laying back down and looking up at the ceiling.
“I get the feeling that you are awake and bored.” Margo looked over the top of her book. So she wasn't so oblivious, she could hear him moving about but she just opted not to comment. Snapping the book shut she stretched out her legs. She was sitting cross legged in the chair. Standing up she put her book in her messenger bag and sat gently down on the the edge of the bed.
“I wouldn't say bored. I don't think anyone is able to wake up bored.” Charles replied while smiling lightly.
“I think you can wake up bored if you've been sleeping for the past three days.”
“What?” Charles looked at her with a wide eyed expression. Margo slowly smiled and raised her eyebrows. “You liar.” He huffed and crossed his arms slowly. He briefly looked at the wires which were attached to him and led into machines by his bedside.
“Yeah, sorry, you've only been out a day, if that.” Margo sighed and patted her knees before standing up. “I don't think I need to tell you, but you're not in a conventional hospital. More, a private facility.” She paused to roll her hand in thought. “You've had a few visitors, mainly important suited people...but obviously, you were unconscious so their visits were wasted.” Margo said while pulling her bag over her shoulder. Charles nodded slowly and couldn't help but notice how she sounded rather bored by relaying this information. It all seemed so trivial.
“What are you missing out?” He asked, he could tell, she was skimming over something.
“They wouldn't allow Hank in, he may...have reacted badly to this. It isn't really fair is it? Alex and Sean and myself can visit, but not him.” Margo shook her head slowly. “Anyway! I best go inform someone that you've finally decided to wake up.” She grinned and walked towards the door.
Frowning lightly he watched her go. “I'm surprised you're here.” He said, she stopped and turned to look at him. She removed her hand from the door handle and took a step into the room again. “I suppose surprised is the right word to use.”
Margo looked to the floor. “I dislike hospitals, and hospital like surroundings. But seeing as how you're the patient I think I can forget my dislike for the time being.” She joked and rocked on her heels.
“That wasn't what I meant.”
“I know,” she replied flatly. “Look,” she pushed her hair behind her ears and moved forwards. Sitting back down on the edge of the bed she looked thoughtful for a moment before looking at the machinery in front of her. “I may have agreed with Erik's words, more so than what you believe. And, admittedly I would have gone with him...but I don't want to fight. I’ve realized actually, that I don't like fighting. I don't want to hurt people, be they humans or mutants. The thought of joining him knowing full well that he plans on harming the humans...it doesn't sit well with me. No, I’m not saying that I’d openly protect them, just...I don't want to be a part of something which brings pain. I’ve known pain, and I wouldn't want to inflict it on someone else.” Margo paused to give an awkward fidget. She looked confused before frowning lightly and shaking her head. “I don't think I know what I want. So either way being with Erik's group would be a wasted thing.” Smiling she shrugged. “You're stuck with me, I’m afraid.”
Charles had laid and listened intently to her words. It was perhaps one of the most honest moments Margo had ever had, whether she realized this or not he didn't know. He gave a nod though, slowly and painfully when she had finished speaking.
“I'm sure I can manage that.” He smiled, Margo grinned and gave a nod before standing up again and moving slowly over to the door. He turned his head and watched her walk away.
“Oh!” Margo exclaimed and pointed a finger in the air. She turned and looked at him. “What loyalties do I have to Erik? I have none. I have loyalties to you though. That's another reason why I stayed. I don't think you wholly realize, but you gave me a life.” Margo admitted sounding a little embarrassed, Charles merely smiled at her moment. Shaking her head she clapped her hands together. “Right! Let's see if we can get you out of here, hm?” She smiled and exited the room to find someone to inform of his awakening.
