“This is outstanding. You do realize you give a new meaning to 'mind over matter'?” Charles couldn't help but sound enthusiastic. Finding something new, something he hadn't come across yet interested him greatly.
Margo just sat holding onto the warm cup he'd just given her. She sat on the sofa in his and Raven's apartment, Raven at the moment was seemingly out, where he didn't know. She was in when he left, and he precisely remembered telling her to stay in, but no, of course she didn't listen. This caused Charles to sigh, he didn't wish to lecture his sister again, he didn't wholly enjoy doing it, and he knew Raven didn't exactly like listening.
Lifting the cup up, Margo drunk slowly while plainly looking at him. She had never come across someone so seemingly happy about what he'd observed. She'd spent so much time around indifferent cold eyes and even colder surroundings that happiness over the smallest things was lost on her.
“Coming from you,” Margo said at length, Charles looked up, he was pacing around until he collapsed into the chair and sat smiling widely. Every so often he'd cast a look her way and run a hand through his brown hair in thought. “You were in my head.” She paused to drink some more. “That's a new meaning to 'mind over matter'.”
It looked like he was about to disagree yet he shrugged and let her seemingly have that one. “Margo, where did you come from?” He asked, it seemed he'd finally calmed down over this new discovery to ask the important question. Margo's eyes narrowed, she looked away and frowned. “You run away?” Charles asked, Margo looked at him with a sidelong look. He nodded slowly, “It's fine,” he sighed and stood. Turning away he took to trying to find spare things for her. She needed clothes, bedding...
“There's a place,” Margo's voice stopped him in his tracks. Ducking around a door he looked to her. Looking at her cup Margo frowned in thought. “There is a place that I ran away from.” She said while looking up at him. “Is this place safe?”
“Well,” he looked around thoughtfully. “As yet, yes, it's safe.”
Margo looked confused. “What do you mean?”
Charles pulled out spare blankets and a pillow and walked back to where she was. Placing the things down next to her he sat on the edge of the coffee table. Putting his hands together he looked at her curiously. “Has it ever occurred to you, that you are not alone?”
“It never had until now.”
“My sister and I,” Charles said simply. “Have lived in peace here for some time.”
“And you've not been discovered?”
“No, though,” he mused while patting his knees and standing up to walk back to the chair. “There have been times where I think we've been close.” He sat down, he was mainly thinking of Raven and her slight tendencies at playing up.
“You live...normally, here?” Margo seemed generally really confused by this.
“Well, yes,” Charles smiled and let out a quiet laugh. Was it really that hard to understand. Margo just looked at him oddly before shaking her head slowly. It seemed yes, it was hard to understand. “Why?”
Margo leant back against the sofa and shook her head again. “It seems like a rather easy lifestyle.” She said distantly. She was envious. That she couldn't deny. She'd have loved nothing more than to live in a nicely furnished apartment, with a relative, and just live, at peace without any trouble.
Charles seemed to pick up on her feelings, even without sneakily slipping into her mind. Frowning lightly he leant forwards in the chair and looked at her curiously. “It's not as easy as you think.” He said, Margo looked to him. Leaning her head back she shut her eyes and slowly opened them to look up at the ceiling. Looking over her tired form, Charles couldn't help but tilt his head to the side at the sight of a band around her wrist. White, though dirtied, there were numbers written on it in black pen.
“I'm being an awful host,” he said suddenly breaking the silence.
“You've given me tea. I wouldn't say you've been a totally awful host.” Margo quipped back while reaching out and putting the cup down on the coffee table. When the table seemed to have other ideas and lift up to meet the cup she was holding out, she retracted back quickly, the table cluttered back to solid ground.
“Here,” she reached out and held the cup out to him. “You may have more success than me.”
Charles took the offered cup and simply placed it on the table. “You can't control it, can you?”
“Is it that obvious?”
Smiling he shook his head. “I think the only way to be more obvious is to attempt levitating again.”
Margo sighed and hung her head. “I can't do that anyway.” She mumbled.
“You tried.”
“And failed.”
“But you tried,” Charles said seriously. “You tried in a public place.” Margo looked up through her hair at him. “You can't do that.” He said while crossing his arms. The two looked at each other for a few moments before he let out a sigh. “Back to my awful hosting skills,” he said lightly bringing the matter back at hand. “The bathroom is the second door down the hall,” he stood, Margo slowly stood too and looked to him. “I'll go sort out a bed for you for the night.”
“I'm fine with the sofa. Believe me, compared to what I was previously sleeping on, it's fine.”
“That's nonsense, as a guest I can't allow you to spend the night on the sofa.” He smiled.
“Yes,” Margo said, “You can.” She walked past him and towards the bathroom. “I'm not kicking someone out of their bed for the night.” She said while turning and waving a hand in his direction, she flinched though when this action caused the door to open. She had to quickly step back to avoid it hitting her in the face.
