Pillow Talk

After dinner ruby put the boys in a bath, getting all the dirt off them from their day out and she put them into a pair of cozy pajamas before tucking them into their beds and singing them off to sleep.
She slowly shut their door and leaned on it with a sigh, rubbing her eyes. This had been a hard day but it was finally over and she could focus on the next day. It would probably be hard too, in fact the next few weeks at the very least were going to be difficult as she knew adjusting to having Lucifer back was going to be rough on everyone. At least the twins seemed to take the change well enough so far but that was to be expected. They loved Belial and had no reason to have a bad view on Lucifer if he was Belial.
Ruby shook het head and made her way to her room, hearing the shower going as she pulled off her dress and sat on the bed, looking at the bruises on her side from rolling across the ground and into a tree. Damn Gabriel. Damn him straight to hell. She slipped off her stockings and bra before pulling her night gown on and moving to her vanity to pull her hair up into curlers as the shower shut off and after a moment Lucifer stepped out with a towel around his hips.
He smiled at her in the reflection of the mirror before moving to stand behind her and help her with the curlers.
"Thank you.." She whispered, resting her hands in her lap as he worked.
"My pleasure. I love getting to play with your hair." He said, as he quickly finished up. "I like the curly do you've started doing too. It's very different from your old styles."
"I'm very different from my old styles..." She whispered.
"I know. You're not that girl I fell in love with all those centuries ago. You're a grown woman. Strong and brave and independent. You're more than who you used to be."
She smiled and leaned her head back to look up at him and he laid his hand gently on her throat as the two just stared into eachothers eyes for a while.
Eventually she stood from her vanity and moved over to the bed to turn down the quilts with a yawn. "It's going to take some getting used to, seeing you again." She told him.
He nodded. "It's going to take some getting used to being in this form again. I usually only used it for the imps. They were too stupid to recognize me as Belial." He said with a chuckled, moving into the bed next to her.
She laughed as well and moved to cuddle against his side. "I'm worried for the boys...today must have been so traumatic for them." She said softly after a moment.
He sighed and nodded. "They'll be alright. They're tough kids. Besides. They're safe now. I have the imps watching over them and the building tonight. If any of my brothers or the crowns come near here I'll know immediately."
She looked up at Lucifer and placed her hand on his fuzzy chin.
"What?" He asked, smirking down at her and she blushed.
"I forgot how beautiful you were." She whispered. "When you smiled at me I mean..."
He placed his hand over hera and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "You've always been the most beautiful creature I've ever seen."
She chuckled and moved to lay her head over his heart, his arms around her and making her feel safe and relaxed as she drifted off to sleep.

A few hours into the night two lit the cupheaded boys crept from their room and down the hall, slipping into the bedroom of their beloved parents, the two of them moving to the side of the bed where ruby now laid on her stomach snoring softly, clutching her pillow.
"Pssst! Mommy! Mommy!" Cuphead said in a loud whisper, shaking her shoulder.
Ruby awoke quickly and sat up on her elbows, looking down at the boys in dark. "Cuppy? Mugsy? What are you two doing up? It's so late." She whispered.
"Mugsy had a bad dream and... and i....um...." cuphead looked down in shame as he tried to explain and that was when ruby noticed his wet pajamas.
She smiled and sat up slowly. "Aww it's ok baby. You two can sleep here tonight. But first let's get you cleaned up cuppy." She said, moving from under the quilt and picking up Mugman, tucking him into her side of the bed.
Lucifer groaned, feeling the weight shift in the bed and he cracked his eyes open. "What's going on?" He asked groggilly.
"The boys are scared and cuphead had a little accident. I'm gonna clean him up and they're gonna sleep with us." She explained, kissing Mugmans head before moving to take cuphead into the bathroom while Lucifer pulled Mugman close to him, and started snoring again.
Ruby ran a quick bath for cuphead and set him into the hot water as she washed him.
"Mommy?" Cuphead asked quietly.
"Yes baby?"
"Why don't mugs and I look like you and daddy?"
Ruby paused her washing and looked down at her curious boy. It wasn't like she had expected the two of them to never see that they looked nothing like her but... It still caught her off guard.
"Well...daddy...see he's not..." he bit her lip and looked off.
"Daddy and mommy didn't make you two together. I made you in my belly with someone else." She said, quickly, washing his back gently with a cloth.
"So daddy isn't our daddy?"
Ruby sighed and lifted his chin to look at her. "Daddy has been here loving you and taking care of you since you two were born. He is your daddy through and through. You two juat don't look like him and you don't look like me because you look like the man who helped me make you." She explained.
Cuphead was quiet for a while but eventually nodded. "Ok mommy. I love you." He said, seeming to be satisfied with her explanation.
Ruby smiled, "I love you too sweetie." She said before pulling him from the water to dry him off. He and his brother were such good kids. They never fussed or fought or argued with her. They were truly little blessings.
Ruby got him dried off and dressed in some clean pjs before carrying him to bed and letting him fall asleep laying on her chest.
