Dinner was quiet that night when dice came home and he couldn't understand why. Wheezy and his mother were usually drinking and laughing and having a great time but tonight they just... sat there. They didn't even really eat the food on their plates, they just pushed it around.
"I uh... I got a girls phone number today as a tip mom... do you wanna call it and tell her to go to hell?" He asked, smiling at his mom.
She smiled softly and looked up from her plate, she looked so tired. "No baby that...that's ok. You should call her. See if she wants to go dancing or something." She said gently.
"Ahh no thanks mom. She's not really my type." He said, briefly glancing at wheezy before looking back at his plate.
She smiled, "you'll have to settle down eventually honey. I'd like to be a grandmother someday." She said sweetly.
"You will... someday..."
"Gotta finish being a mother first ruby." Wheezy said grumpily and she shot him a glare.
"If you've got something to say Wheezy say it don't pussy foot around."
"How did you not know?!"
"How could I have!? I didn't think I could!"
Dice sat back in his chair, he had never seen ruby and wheezy fight before.
"Um... what's going on?"
Ruby sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Nothing dice. Nothing... I'm going bed. You boys can clean up." She said, throwing her napkin onto her plate and storming up to her room.
Wheezy snarled, his ashen head sparking red and orange with his temper and picked up her plate and his and went to wash them in the sink, muttering about how she was driving him crazy.
Dice was very confused. Did he step through some alternate timeline portal or something?
"Wheezy? Is ma ok?"
"She's fine. Just out of her Lucifer forsaken mind." He said over his shoulder.
"What? What do you mean?"
He sighed and leaned against the sink. "She doesn't want me to tell you but... she's pregnant dice. T got her pregnant and left her."
Dice looked up at wheezy in shock. "Shes...gonna have a baby?"
Wheezy nodded. "I told her it's abad idea to keep it but she's not listening. Something about how God struck her last child from her womb or something I don't know." He said turning back around to finish the dishes.
Dice stood from the table and staggered up the stairs to ruby's room and before he could knock he heard her crying softly.
He sighed and knocked gently, "mom? Can I come in?" He called.
Ruby sat up off her bed and quickly dried her eyes, "sure baby. Come on in." She called back before he opened the door and stepped inside.
In her lap was a small photo album and it was open to a page with a very old looking drawing of what looked like Lucifer but...not the Lucifer he knew. This Lucifer had angel wings and a halo and looked...happy.
"Wheezy told you didn't he?" She whispered, shutting the book and placing it on her night stand.
"Yeah... He did. Are you ok mom?" He asked, sitting down next to her and she sighed.
"Honestly I don't know. I never thought I could have a child... I thought I was made infertile..." She explained.
Dice reached out and took her hand. "Well... you had me right? I know it's not the same but... you raised me and I turned out ok... a little stubborn maybe but I think you were a fantastic mom."
She smiled at him and moved to hug him, "my sweet little dice. You are my greatest blessing." She whispered, smiling as she held him tightly to her.
He smiled too, listening to her heart beat in her chest. He would always love his mom. Always.
