Back Rooms

Ruby stood behind the curtain. Reaching out to feel the velvet under her freshly painted finger tips. So long it had been since she stood like this. Dolled up for the crowd, listening to the murmurs from beyond the curtain. If she closed her eyes she could almost hear the sound of slot machines and rolling dice behind the murmurs.
There was a small bit of feed back and the sound of shoes crossing the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our lovely little show tonight. We have a very special guest all the way from inkwell hell this evening. The world has known her throughout the ages by many names but one is known by all. Lady Saint Ruby of Hearts!" A man said through the microphone in the middle of the stage and as the curtain opened and the spotlight moved to Ruby, making the light dance on her rhinestone covered dress, casting little rainbows around the room, an audible gasp rang through the crowd and she smiled, stepping up to the large silver microphone on the stage as her heart hammered in her chest.
"Good evening my dears. It's been a long while since I've taken a stage. I'd thought those days were behind me and yet here I am. I hope my voice is still everything it used to be." She said with a wink to the crows before music began to swirl in the air and she began to sing, sing a song she had written herself, much like all the others she used to sing but this one, this one was for Lucifer. One she had never sang for him. One she had always wanted to but for some reason never did.

As she sang, belting out her heart she realized what she sang was true. No matter how far from Lucifer she was he would always have her, be it in her heart, her mind, or body he had her and she knew she could never truly hide that from herself, never truly hide that from him.
Belial was true to his word, he sat front and center for her show and during the first song his eyes were wide and full of tears, blood tears. He knew who this song was for and it tore him apart inside.
As she closed out the first song he stood and stormed out of the lounge, leaving ruby on stage to watch him go and wonder if that had been appropriate to sing as she began her next song on her set up.
After the show she slipped back into her normal dress and pulled her hair down from its stage up do before slipping out into the loby.
She couldn't believe how much she had missed singing on stage. It was still such a thrill to her even after all the years of doing it. She just wished Belial hadn't run out like he had and missed the whole thing but she could understand why.
She found an employee who told her Belial was in the back rooms, of the hotel where the laundry room and storage area was. They handed her a key and she thanked them before heading off to find Belial.
The back rooms were like a maze, almost impossible to find her way through and eventually she became a little lost, much to her dismay.
She groaned. "Belial?!" She called out as she began to wander aimlessly. Silently curing the employee who sent her back there without a map!
She turned a corner and saw a tiny devil tail flicking out from around a corner ahead of her as she had called out. It quickly rushed away and her eyes widened and she hurried after it. Was that an imp? That had looked just like an imp tail!
She tried her best to keep up with the tiny imp until she saw it slip into an open vent and she skidded to a halt outside the tiny hole on the wall and listened to it clamor it's way through the vent above her and she turned, following the sound of tiny claws on metal until ahe came to a rather large mahogany and gold door. She didn't pause to think as she threw open the door when the sounds stopped above and she rushed into the room, her eyes still on the ceiling but she quickly regretted this. She quickly regretted a lot of things in that next moment.
She ran full force into the back of a tall, muscular, black fur covered creature that she knew all too well.
She fell back on her ass and looked up as the devil turned his horned head and locked eyes with her.
Her eyes widened and a scream got caught in her throat as she looked up at the love of her life and the greatest nightmare she had ever encountered.
He was there. In New York. In the hotel run by her boyfriend. In the very same room as her, only two fucking feet from her!
A tremble quickly over took her body as her heart began to hammer against her ribs and he moved to turn, holding up his two clawed hands. "Ruby..." He began, that fimiliar demonically deep voice ringing through her as it always had as he began to lean down to seemingly grab her.
Oh hell no. She turned and let her wings sprout from her back, smacking him hard and sending him back a few feet as she scrambled to her feet and rushed the door, imps surrounding the devil as he held his jaw and watched her run out, taking a moment to steady himself. "Ruby! Wait! Get back here!" He called, quickly rushing after her as she ran full force down the twisting halls of the back rooms of the hotel.
She had to get out, she had to get to her boys and run with them. The Devil had found her.
