You Will Be Okay

"Uriel! Raphael! Please! Stop this! We can stop him together! Let me go!" Ruby yelled, struggling in the grip of the two angels that held her but they didn't even look at her, they didn't seem to be themselves. What had Gabriele done to them? The opened a large door and threw her inside and onto the floor and ruby quickly turned to try and bum rush the door but they slammed it shut and walked away, leaving her to bang on the door and glare at the thick wood. "Fuck!" Ruby yelled before sinking to her knees.
"Mama?" Mugman chimmed from behind and she gasped, turning to see Lucifer unconscious on the floor and cuphead and Mugman huddled together behind him, little cracks in cupheads porciline face and tears streaming down both their cheeks.
Ruby quickly rushed to them and gathered them into her arms, holding them close to her and shaking. "Boys! Oh boys I'm so sorry! Are you ok?"
"We're ok mom. What's going on? We wanna go home!" Cuphead said as he clung to his mother, pressing his face into her chest.
"I know baby. I know. I'm gonna get you out of here. Everything is gonna be ok." She assured.
There was a groan from beside them as Lucifer started waking up. "R-ruby?" He murmured.
Ruby turned to place a hand on his cheek, letting the boys cling to her side. "I'm here Lucifer. It's ok. I'm here." She assured, gently tracing her thumb over a swollen lump on his cheek.
His eyes fluttered open and he slowly sat up, rubbing his head. "Wh-what happened? Where are we?"
"The Crowns got us... Gabrielle posed as T and tricked us." Ruby explained.
Lucifer looked shocked and horrified by this. "I can't use my powers..." he said after snapping his fingers and nothing happened.
"The room must be blessed then..." Ruby whispered.
Lucifer growled and hit the floor. "When I get my hands on him I'm gonna..." he started to say but ruby took his face in her hands.
"Lucifer. Now's not the time. We need to figure out how to get the boys out and where dice is."
"Dice left work almost as soon as we got there. His boyfriend showed up crying and said it was an emergency with his mother." Lucifer said.
Ruby sighed in relief. "Oh thank goodness. That must be why he wasn't in the film. He's with Mic." She said placing a hand over her heart. At least one of her kids was safe. "Regardless we need to get the twins out." She said and Lucifer nodded, moving to stand up to inspect the room. The only opening was a small bared window at the top of the room. "Ruby..." he said, pointing up at it.
The window was small but as thin as her teenage son's were that would be big enough for them to get through if she could get the bars bent.
"If I fly you up can you break the bars?" She asked.
"Yeah. I think so. They look old." He said and ruby moved, hugging him from behind and flapping her wings, straining against her broken bones and bruises as she lifted him up to the window and Lucifer actually made quick work of the bars before ruby dropped him and collapsed down to the floor.
Lucifer groaned but quickly sat up and rushed to her with the boys. "Ruby?"
"I.... I'm ok. Gabriele just broke my ribs. I'll be fine. Help the boys out." She said, trying not to hyperventilate in the pain.
The boys quickly moved to hug her. "We don't wanna leave you mom!" Mugman said through his tears.
"Don't worry boys. It'll be ok just go and find a way into the trade ship that goes to inkwell. Go there and look for someone named Hilda Burg. She lives in the astronomy tower on the first isle. Tell her yourew my son's and that you need to call your uncle wheezy. She will keep you safe and get help." Ruby assured, holding them tight.
She kissed both their heads and Lucifer gently pulled them away to help them up to the window. "Just listen to your mother boys. We love you. It's all gonna be ok." He said before hoisting them up and out. Ruby listened as she heard them running across the old cobblestone street and away from the Parthenon. She smiled, knowing her kids were safe as Lucifer moved to pull her into his arms.
"I love you Lucifer. I'm so sorry about all this... if I had just..." Ruby whispered against him and Lucifer silenced hee by kissing her lips.
"Don't you dare. Ruby... I don't regret a single thing that lead me to a life with you. The only thing I regret is spending so much time away from you, even when you were right next to me. I love you more than life itself. I will gladly die to see you live."
"Don't say things like that! If you died what would happen to me!? You're mine! I.... I can't live without you." As she spoke tears of fear fell down her face and Lucifer bit his lip.
"You'd be ok ruby. You're strong." He said gently, rubbing her back.
She shook her head slowly and pressed her face to his chest, clinging his fur and he sighed and began to hum and then began to sing.

Ruby felt tears running down her face even harder as he sang. She had...never heard him sing before, beyond simple lullabies to the boys when they were small. His voice was even more beautiful than her own. "Lucifer... She whispered, smiling at him and he smiled back at her and kissed her gently.
"My beautiful precious treasure." He whispered between his kisses.
