In Love With My Best Friend (Tsukki x Yams)

4: Roadtrip.

"So Tsukki, are you going?" Yamaguchi eagerly asked the slim boy, hoping he'd say yes. 

"Why would I want to go to a beach house?" Tsukki replied to Yamaguchi with such a bland tone, it made Yamaguchi's head drop a bit. "Do you need me to go?" Tsukki continued on, watching Yam's head drop from the corner of his eye. 

The way Tsukishima enunciated the word 'need' like he knew Yamaguchi wanted him there made Yam's cheeks glow a vibrant red. 

"Well, it's really up to you Tsukki." Yamaguchi told his best friend, trying to calm down a bit. He didn't want to push his best friend by telling him he wanted Tsukki to come. 

"I guess I could spare a few days." Tsukishima wearily spoke, making Yamaguchi grin in relief...or happiness? "Night." Tsukki told Yamaguchi, as they parted ways at their usual spot. 

"Goodnight Tsukki!" Yamaguchi gave him a great, big wave as he turned around to walk back to his own home. 

'I'm glad Tsukki decided to come.' Yamaguchi thought to himself, having a huge smile plastered across his face as he walked home in the silent night.

"Well, I'm glad you all decided to come along!" Sugawara gleamed, eyeing Yamaguchi and Tsukishima as they walked towards the bus at the same time. 

"I hope you guys have everything because, we're not coming back." Daichi declared, moving out of the way so the boys (and Yachi and Kiyoko, of course) could start boarding the bus. 

The volleyball captain and the co-captain ended up standing at two sides of the steps, waiting for the last of the players to board the bus. They looked around, making sure they hadn't forgot anyone, and they eventually made their way up, with the bus driver closing the bus doors. 

On the bus, the seats could fit two people, so the normal partners usually sat together. 

Kageyama with Hinata, Nishinoya and Asahi, Daichi and Sugawara, Tanaka and Ennoshita, and let's not forget the two team managers, Kiyoko and Yachi. Yamaguchi and Tsukishima always sat together so it'd only make sense that they sat together on this bus ride too. 

"I said I wanted the window seat!" Hinata whined because Kageyama got next to the window first. 

"Well, you should've been quicker." Kageyama snickered, not moving an inch for Hinata. 

Everyone just got onto the bus and that married couple was already bickering and arguing over the littlest of things. Tsukishima just scoffed at that, popping his earbuds in, and not his usual headphones. 

If you took a glance at everyone on the bus, you could see the strange and interesting ways they all interacted with each other. 

You had Nishinoya and Asahi chatting it up, well mostly Nishinoya talking while Asahi patiently listened. Daichi and Sugawara were both looking at some sort of magazine together, like another one of the 'married couples' of Karasuno. Ennoshita was trying to pull Tanaka down as he attempted to 'flirt' with Kiyoko and Yachi, both not giving him the time of day. Kageyama and Hinata finally quieted down a bit but were still bickering if you listened close enough. 

Yamaguchi was a bit busy looking out the window as the bus drove down the road, making the scenery outside look like a mush of colors. It was still pretty early in the morning that the sky was still a hint of orange, slowly turning to a sky blue. 

He loved to take in the beautiful landscape, as he watched the colors change a lot throughout the ride. Yamaguchi's eyes gleamed in fascination as he looked out the window.

"Wanna listen?" The voice next to him spoke, snapping Yamaguchi from his scenery trance. He jerked his head to see Tsukishima offering one side of his earbuds to him. 

"Sure!" He laughed, taking the right ear bud from his best friend's hand, popping it inside his ear. 

Yamaguchi realized Tsukki didn't have a specific type of music he fancied. He varied between rock, calming music, pop and many other genres Yamaguchi couldn't even name if he tried. 

Yamaguchi would notice this because everytime they went on a bus ride together or walked to even the convenience store, Tsukishima would let Yamaguchi listen with him. It never really pulled Yam's attention until recently but, he wouldn't comment about it, afraid Tsukki would stop offering. 

Around 30 minutes into the bus ride to the beach house, we made a quick bathroom stop mostly due to Tanaka and Nishinoya's weak bladders.  

When Tanaka and Nishinoya started whining to Daichi, of course, Daichi shouted at them because they were supposed to use the bathroom before they all left. But, Daichi couldn't have them peeing themselves on the bus so, they stopped at a gas station. 

Besides Nishinoya and Tanaka, some of the other players came forward admitting they had to use the bathroom also. That included Kageyama, Hinata and Yamaguchi, which made Daichi more irritated. 

"'Scuse me Tsukki." Yamaguchi politely tapped Tsukishima on his head, signaling him to move out of the way so Yamaguchi could maneuver out of the seat. Tsukishima ended up getting up so Yamaguchi could go and do his business. 

5 minutes later...

Of course, Daichi only gave the boys roughly 8 minutes to use the bathroom, timing all of them to make sure they got out in time. They all came back before the 5 minute mark, but Daichi made sure to account that all the boys who left came back before starting up the bus. 

While Yamaguchi walked to the back of the bus where he and Tsukki was sitting, the bus driver accidentally revved the gas pedal, sending multiple players flying.  

"Sorry 'bout that guys!" The bus driver apologized, mistakenly hitting the gas pedal.

Once again, Yamaguchi waiting for his butt to hit the floor but, he landed on something else or...someone else. He turned his pink face to see a bewildered Tsukishima as Yamaguchi sat upwards on his lap. 

"Uh Yamaguchi? Can you get off my lap." Tsukishima unbotheredley told the vibrant-pink, freckled boy who just realized he was on his best friend's lap. 

"I-I'm so s-sorry Tsu-Tsukki!" Yamaguchi uncontrollably stuttered, shifting onto the empty seat next to Tsukishima as quick as possible. He was burning red from embarrassment, as he continued to stare out the window, not believing he was just in Tsukki's lap. 

"Jeez, why are you stammering so much?" Tsukishima scoffed, throwing the right side of earbud into Yamaguchi's lap. "You're acting like some schoolgirl with a crush." Tsukishima rolled his eyes, unpausing his music, while it flowed into Yamaguchi's ear. 

He's right. 'Why am I stuttering so much?' Yamaguchi questioned to himself as he placed the earbud in his ear, staring out the window as the bus started up again. 'A schoolgirl with a crush?' Pfft, don't be so ridiculous Tsukki. 

While Yamaguchi's thoughts tangled inside his mind, he ended up dozing off into a deep sleep, his head slowly drifting towards the snarky middle blocker's shoulder. 

This slightly caught Tsukishima by surprise but, it wasn't an unusual sight for Yamaguchi to rest his head onto his shoulder. Normally, if someone random did that, he'd shove their head off in the opposite direction but, he didn't bother waking Yamaguchi up for that.
