It was still the night of Billie's ceremony and Ava was asleep in her own bed at her childhood home. Now, she never was the one to have nightmares. Yeah, maybe once or twice every few years, but not this often. Not this bad.
For the past few days she had been tossing and turning in her sleep as her bedsheets became drenched in sweat.
It started off as heavy breathing, then whimpers until eventually, Ava just woke up. But, there was something about tonight that was way worse.
The scar behind Ava's neck started to burn like she was being set on fire. It started off as a tingling feeling, and she would whimper as the pain slowly started to rise. Then, as the burning sensation became too unbearable, Ava shot up and clutched onto the back of her neck as she screamed so loud, the neighbors turned their lights on. Ava's eyes turned from their natural brown to a glowing red as her piercing scream gradually turned into a deafening growl.
