Ava's pov

It's been a few hours since Billie dropped me home. A few hours since I found out werewolves were real. It's actually still blowing my mind at the moment.

As soon as Billie left, Sierra called me up saying she was bored and that she was heading over. Sierra has her own drawer of clothes here at my house for whenever she decides to stay the night, weekend, etc. That's why I'm currently on my bed, eating a fuck ton of junk food with my bestfriend laughing by my side as we watched her favorite show: The Office.

"Nah, bro, they all hated that movie."

"I don't get it." I scrunched my face in confusion, reminiscing about the man from the ice cream shop.

"You're thinking too much about it, babe." Sierra was about to explain the episode to me but I shook my head.

"I'm not talking about the show, Si. I'm talking about earlier." Sierra being my bestfriend, I couldn't hold back on the events that took place today with Billie...I didn't tell her about Billie, though because I promised the other girl I wouldn't tell anybody about it.

"Oh. It still doesn't really add up to me either." She said all while stuffing a few takis in her mouth. "But since she's here, you can ask her."

I furrowed my eyebrows at my blonde-haired friend. "What?"

Sierra pointed to my bedroom door and as soon as she did, it bursts open to reveal a heaving Billie. I raised my eyebrows at Sierra and she shrugged. "Don't ask me how I knew that."

Deciding not to speak on it, my attention went on the nearly frantic girl that was now at the window looking out of it. Billie closed my curtains swiftly and turned around.

"You need to come with me." She said and I just blinked at her.

"And why is that?"

"I'll explain everything on the way to my place." Billie walked into my closet and started throwing whatever she found into one of my duffel bags.

Seeing this, I got up to stop her. "Woah, what the hell is your problem?" I said as I held her arm from grabbing any more of my clothes. She wasn't making any sense right now. "Y'all to me, what's going on?"

"I'll explain in the car, Ava. But I'm begging you now, please come with me." Her icy blue eyes looked into mine pleadingly.

"Is this about—" I didn't even have to finish my sentence before Billie nodded. I locked my lips and looked back at Sierra who stayed unbothered by Billie's sudden intrusion. "What about Sierra?"

"What about her?"

"Bil, I can't just leave her here." We we're both whispering at this point, not wanting the girl in question to panic.

"Av, if we take her, we'd might as well take your mother too and Finneas only told me to bring you." Billie looked back at my bestfriend. "She'll be safer away from all this."

"My mom left on some trip and didn't tell me what it was for. As for Sierra, it's either she goes or I stay."

"Jesus, okay! Fuck." The black haired girl rubbed her forehead in frustration. "Pack the essentials, do it quickly and meet me in the car." She turned to Sierra. "You too."

Sierra just stared at Billie. "Where are we going?"

Billie made her way out the door. "Just do it."

Soon, Sierra and I were packed and ready to go. We made our way out to Billie's car, threw our shit in the trunk, then entered the car. Billie drove off as soon as all of our feet's were inside, causing the rest of us to jerk backwards by the force.

"Okay, now that we're in the car, mind telling me what the hell's got your boxers in a knot?" I asked the driver.

Billie's knuckles tightened on the steering wheel, taking a deep breath, she started. "We've been attacked. Two people are dead and Finneas told me to come get you. He told me all about this pack called Valerian, one of the oldest in the world, dating back centuries. He said they aren't to be trusted."

I allowed Billie to explain everything as we drove closer to her place. When she was finished, I asked some follow up questions. "Why did your brother send you to get me?" Was the first thing I asked.

"He's worries that they might come after you, seeing as you were there that night." Billie answered, keeping her eyes on the road. "He thinks it's best for you to stay around us for a while until we can come up with a solid plan.

Before I could ask another question, Sierra's voice from the backseat spoke up. "What about  a plan?" She asked.

"Nothing!" Billie and I said at the same time, immediately making Sierra cross her arms with a pout as she sat back in her seat. Billie looked at me uneasily.

"I've got to tell her something, Bil. She's my best friend." I whispered to her.

"Not yet." The other girl replied, looking back at my bestfriend who was now looking down on her phone. "I'll get Finneas to do it. I can't tell anybody anything else. He doesn't even know that I've told you already."

"Just as long as she knows soon. I hate keeping things from her."

"Fine."

The rest of the car ride was quiet, but the air reeked of uneasiness. In no time, Billie pulled up into the front driveway of the estate and was immediately greeted by Finneas and another girl next to him, and Evie. They were standing right in front of the house, seemingly awaiting our arrival.

As we all exited Billie's car, a few other guys came out to take our things into the house. Walking up to Finneas and the rest, Sierra looked around the place in awe. "Woah.."

Billie stopped in front of her brother. "Finneas, this is Ava, Ava, this is Finneas, the Alpha."

"Wait— 'Alpha'?" Sierra snorted. "What, are you guys werewolves or something?"

"We have a lot to discuss. I was actually only expecting one, but instead, got two. Usually, I'd do something about that but we have much more important matters in hand. Follow me." Finneas turned around and walked into the house quickly with everyone else following suit.

I looked over at Sierra who just looked at me, confused. I shrugged and followed after Billie who was waiting for us at the open front door.
