Today is Monday. That's two days since the River Bash and all everyone could talk about was the man and girl from that night and I'm honestly over it at this point. I just wanna get through another week of school so I can sleep in on the weekends again.

I'm currently in the kitchen, waiting for a text from Sierra. Ever since she got her learners' permit, she's been driving me to school. The only thing about it is that, this bitch couldn't care less about being late to school.

A text from said bitch popped up on my phone telling me that she's waiting outside. I collected my stuff and headed out the door, not before my mom calling out and reminding me about my shift at Joe's Pizzaria after school.

I get into Sierra's car and sighed.

"You ok, girl?" My bestfriend asked concerned.

"Yeah, why?"

"Nothing, you ready?" She asked.

"Yes, lets go to this hellhole."

And onward to school we went. Little did I know, it was today when my life would take an unexpected and drastic turn possible.

"I hear there's new students coming in today."

I turned my head with raised eyebrows. "Students? Plural?"

"Yeah, that's what I'm saying! Like how many times have we had new students here in Scarlet? Almost none!" At this point, Sierra's voice was higher than the roof of this car. It was amusing, actually. "I'm telling you, something is coming. I can feel it."

"Okay, calm down, Si." I chuckled and looked forward as we were entering school campus.

Right away, I noticed a crowd of people surrounding something in the distance.

"What do you think is going on over there?" I asked Sierra as she parked.

"Let's go find out."

We both exited the car and walked closer to the commotion.

"Hello, let me pass, fuckers." Sierra forced her way through.

As for myself, I'm the polite one out of the both of us, saying "excuse me" every few seconds.

Soon, we made it to the front of the crowd and the horrific sight wasn't anything you'd normally expect. I gagged at the smell of the dead deer in front of me and used my shirt to cover my nose. The deer was basically inside out since it's internal organs were splayed all over the ground.

"Oh god, what is tha—" Sierra leaned over and gagged. The sound of her gagging made me gag even more.

"Fuck this, I'm going to class— ouehh!" I turned around and forced my way out of the crowd with Sierra following behind me.

As I ripped myself away the final bodies of the crowd, I accidentally ran into a warm one. They're hands wrapped around me to keep the both of us steady so we wouldn't fall.

"I'm so sorry!" I apologized, fixing my hair and standing up straight to look at the person I bumped into. My breath caught in my throat.

"Your good." She said. It was the girl from the party— Billie, I think. I'm not gonna lie, she's even more appealing up close. "I'd run like hell too after seeing something like that."

"Oh my god, that was so disgusting!" I shivered. Then, I realized Sierra wasn't behind me anymore.

"Looks like your friend couldn't hold it." Billie said, her head turned to the side.

I followed her line of sight to see Sierra hunched over one of the school's trash cans. Would it make me a bad best friend if I laughed?

The bell rang signaling the 5 minute passing time to first period. Suddenly, a few kids I've never seen before passed by and started walking up the stairs. One of them turned and called out to Billie.

"Hoi, Bil! You comin' ?" He yelled.

Billie lifted her hand, telling them to go ahead and she'll catch up. She then turned to me and directed those ocean blue eyes into my brown ones. "I guess I'll see you around..."

"Ava. Ava Ramirez, but people call me Val." I introduced myself making Billie nod.

"It was lovely bumping into you, Val." Was all the other girl said before turning on her heel and walking off into the school.

I just stood there like a dumbass in headlights. My name was like silk on her tongue.

"Uh, hello! A little help over here?"

I shook out of my mini trance and jogged over to help my blonde-haired best friend take her head out of the trash can. Then, together, we went into school with me going to my first period and Sierra heading straight to the bathroom to rinse her mouth of the disgusting taste of her vomit. She's lucky she tends to carry a tiny bottle of mouth wash in her bag.
