AVA's pov
Billie seemed agitated. I assumed it's because of the guy that came up to her earlier. By the way, I wonder what all that was about? Did they know each other?
Here I am sitting in the passenger seat as Billie drove on. She must've really been in her own head because I could've sworn we passed the same stop sign twice.
"Billie, I think we came around here already." I said.
"Jesus, can you wait?!" She shouted.
I jumped in my seat, then I turned to look at her and furrowed my eyebrows.
"Okay, did I do something to you?" I raised my voice because there is no damn way I'm going to be yelled at for nothing.
"No." She said.
"Then why are you yelling?"
"I don't know, okay!" Billie sighed. "There's some things I can't just blurt out to you— to anybody. No matter how much I want to."
"Is it that much of a secret that you can't tell me what the hell happened with that man back there?"
"Yes." She said quickly.
I nodded my head and crossed my arms. I looked forward. "Drop me home."
"What?"
"I said 'drop me home'. You're not gonna take me somewhere, only to have some stranger confront you and not tell me what it's about! So drop. Me. Home."
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Billie staring at me before obeying my wishes and driving out of the loop we've been in the past ten minutes.
The drive to my house was quiet with only the sound of passing cars and the wind filling our silence. Soon enough, Billie pulled up to my place.
I immediately began to collect my stuff but, before I could open the door, Billie stopped me by putting her hand on my knee.
"I'm sorry." She said with a sigh. "I didn't mean to yell at you like that. I promise that one day, I'll tell you everything. You just have to trust me."
"How do you expect me to trust you if you're keeping secrets from me?" I asked her, my voice soft. "Why can't you just tell me everything now and get it over with?"
"It isn't that simple, Ava. If I tell you, it could literally put you in danger."
What could she possibly be hiding that could put me in danger?
"Don't you think I'd be in even more danger if you didn't? What could you possibly be hiding fro—"
"I'm a werewolf!" She blurted out, looking at me for any sort of reaction.
I leaned back and looked at her, unamused. I sucked my teeth at her. "Goodbye Billie—"
"No! Wait, just—" Billie clenched her eyes shut and took a deep breath. "Finn is going to kill me for this..." she muttered. Billie then looked up at me. "Invite me in." Was all she said.
"What?"
"You want to know the truth? Invite me in and I'll tell you everything."
Me and Billie stared at each other, her waiting for me to do as she says while I just look to see for any signs of a joke.
Then, I sighed and got out of the car. "Come on." I said, allowing Billie into my home. It's a good thing my mom wasn't around.
