Hey look its Ness
Lucas flinched to the sudden conversation. He sensed a bit of aggressiveness coming from the other, a bit of confusion, but no fear.
"Um, yeah." Lucas said. "I didn't see you when I came in."
"You have stepped into my home without permission, now drop your weapons and come out." The hatted boy spoke with irritation, a tone that Lucas was not especially fond of. But still, he kept his calm.
He didn't want to relive the thug incident.
"Sorry...I'm here to get some supplies, I will be on my way. I haven't eaten in days." Lucas said while walking out of the isle, now showing his whole face. This did something, the feeling of aggressiveness from the other disappeared.
Now they are both starring at each other, awkwardly.
...
"Oh um, don't be." "I wasn't gonna kick you out or anything, I mean, I don't really own this place neither."
The tone of the stranger's voice changed drastically, but Lucas still kept his guard up, just in case.
"I haven't heard another human voice in over a month, or something like that, I can't keep track of time anymore." The boy flashed a quick smile at Lucas, which made him blush a little. He smiled back to attempt to hide it. It was a charming smile, after all. Unfortunately, Lucas couldn't seem stop thinking about it.
"How old are you?" the boy asked
Lucas considered his response, but decided to tell the truth.
"13, you?"
"Same! Its good to see someone my age still alive during this shitfest of a time."
"Yeah..."
...
"Excuse my profanities, you don't really cuss do you?"
"Its fine."
...
"You don't really talk much dude."
"...Oh no, not at all, just a bit tired."
The hatted boy giggled at the statement, which automatically made Lucas smile back.
"You have a good smile, you should smile more...dude." The boy said as he got closer to Lucas, who has now dropped every bits of self awareness and is now swimming inside his sea of thoughts.
"Thanks, you too have a good smile." Outside, Lucas acted as he was half asleep, but inside of his mind, he was exploding with new sensations he has never felt before.
"By the way, what's your name? I don't want to be weird, but I really could call you something other than "Dude.""
"...Lucas, yours?"
"Ness."
"Oh cool."
...
It was at this moment that Ness finally realize the awkwardness of the conversation, he needed to spark up something.
"Come here and take a seat, lets have a chat."
"Weren't we already having a chat?"
"Yes, but, just sit down so we can have a more formal talk shall we." Ness said with a horrible British accent. Which made Lucas joyfully roll his eyes.
"Where are you from, you don't seem to be from around here." Ness asked eagerly.
"Tazmily, its pretty small, you probably can't even find it on the map." Lucas said after taking a big sip of a bottle of soda he stole from the fridge."
"I came from Onett, you know, my family was going to move to Fourside before, you know, this happened."
Before the boys could continue, a loud sound interrupted their conversation. Making both of them jump. This was followed by a banter of human voices, coming from outside.
Before Lucas could complain, Ness grabbed his hand and sprinted towards the back of the building, where he made an effort sprinting directly towards a concrete wall.
This is the end, Lucas thought, this was how he was going to die, running into a wall in a convenient store.
Instead of hitting the wall, he traveled through it. The next time he opened his eyes, he was no longer sitting inside a Gas station, but outside, on the sandy grounds of the baron desert.
