Emaciated arms tried to pry the mouth away from their neck but failed miserably because Petra pressed her body into theirs, keeping their thrashing feet subdued while she sucked on the warm blood that accumulated within the bulging veins. The poor girl fought as best as she could beneath the solid force, she whimpered when in her mind she screamed for all to hear. Everything flashed before her mind, her husband, family, her job. As the life slowly drained from her body, her arms grew weary at flailing around, so she gave up. She laid there, eyes closed and accepted the certainty of death as Petra feasted.

This one had a distinct taste, a mixture of copper and sweetness that caused the woman to latch on longer. For some reason, the vampire intended to kill this victim, she premeditated it from the second she sensed the girl jogging down the little sloped road with her ears plugged. Even her choice of food was unusual that day, her main target was often men but something about the way the girl's scent transuded from her skin stirred a hunger in Petra, and not just the primal urge to eat but to kill and it was an urge she couldn't control.

She hummed, sucking right down to the last of the poor girl's blood, hearing her breathe her last breath. When she was done, she pulled away and moaned, feeling the sensational hum of energy and refinement that trickled all over her body. Looking down at the face of her victim, hers solemn, she stared at the girl whose eyes were left wide opened. Her mouth ajar at the unexpectedness of her demise, her skin pale and the veins beneath protruding, Petra felt guilt but brushed it off quickly.

She grabbed the girl by the collar of her sleeveless jacket and dragged her off into the early morning's shadow. Twigs and dried leaves crunched with every footstep took as she pulled the dead girl into the cluster of trees. She was light as a feather now that the vitality was taken from her. She tossed her down the rugged terrain, watching as the lifeless body tumbled against rocks and protruding roots. Walking away before she could see the body properly discarded, Petra froze when she heard the aggressive squawking of birds up high. The thick blanket of trees sheltered them but she heard the way they flapped their wings and she listened keenly. She knew it wasn't her who triggered them but something else.

Animals were intuitive creatures, smart creatures and could sense things, particularly danger, long before they happened. Something laid beyond the trees and she sensed it too, her skin crawled, her fangs buzzed but she disciplined herself, that wasn't the time to get carried away, she only came out to feed, the sun was coming up soon and she'd need to be out of it.

Her eyes darted everywhere, quickly Petra sauntered away but something shot past her with a slice in the air. It stuck to a nearby tree and upon closer inspection, the vampire realized it was a tranquillizer dart. A frown graced her face at the sight of the object containing whatever immobilizing drug, it didn't faze her because she was used to crazy shit like that and the sight of it revealed that someone was near and she knew who they could be.

She sprinted off but shrieked when another sliced through the air, the inch-long tip pierced into the back of her arm. She ripped the tranquillizer away, angrily tossing it into the bushes. It would take at least four more of those to knock her out completely, for now, she'd just feel a little groggy. Sprinting away, Petra was almost where she parked her car when out of nowhere a solid piece of branch violently crashed into her stomach. It sent her tumbling back. She rolled on her neck, hitting herself hard against the ground.

Great, now her favourite pair of jeans were ruined again she thought, coughing as she caught her breath.
The woman didn't have much time to gain her equilibrium because two rough-looking men circled her and she recognized them as two of Adira's little revenant boys.

"What gave it away that I was in the area boys?" She grinned, feeling the arm that was struck slowly go numb but she ignored it, standing toe to toe to the men.
