The curious vampires observed Petra as she fumed through the verdant grounds that was steadily brightening. It was a beautiful place, with luscious vegetation that spanned for acres and acres but they weren't welcomed to stay forever to sightsee. The angry vixen didn't even bother to get in the ride but power-walked down the long driveway in the wee hours with a scowl on her face. Curse Adira she thought, curse her and her stupid human pet!
"You should be happy we got you freed, that queen was ready to kill all four of us over you and we don't blame her, attempting to kill her human?"
"Shut the fuck up Edas," Petra tossed.
"Why are you upset anyway?" Asked the man and Petra abruptly stopped.
"Because," she paused. The woman touched the back of her ripped shirt, the pads of her fingers brushing against her icy skin. Though the pain of the seal subsided she knew it was still there and it infuriated her. She didn't want to say what was affecting her because her friends would think she was suddenly crazy to have such feelings or that she was making it up. Petra didn't want to say that she was heartbroken the woman barred her from seeing Beth, a human she was infatuated with, the vampires would call her weak, they would laugh in her face.
"Nothing, staying away from the human's loved ones wouldn't be a hard task," she decided to lie, it was only safe that she lied.
"Good, now get in the car and let's get off her land."
Petra complied, she climbed into the ride and sat beside Castiel and his sister Calais. While the car sped out of the estate, the vampire couldn't help but feel her heart shatter more and more. She did plan to speak to the girl but it would hurt to never see her again until that seal was taken away. She was a monster, that bit she knew but didn't monsters deserve the proclivity for intimacy or something saccharine?
"You must be hungry?" Alaia chimed in the passenger seat at the front and her words snapped Petra from her reverie.
She grinned. "Always,""We have quite a selection for you to chose from,"
"The finest humans Edas says," replied Alaia and both people in the front seat chuckled.
Distrait, Petra could only think about Beth and how that beautiful, flourishing friendship had to come to an end. It was so temporary, dying like a blooming flower in her palm before it had the chance to spread its vibrant petals. The woman was so heartbroken yet she needed to feign excitement, the excitement she couldn't feel even if they pumped her full of it. It would never come close enough to replace how being Beth's friend made her feel.
Ever.

The phone rang quietly, and the entire time it sang in her ear, the pacing woman chewed nervously on her nail. It had been a while since she last heard the girl's euphonious voice and though the idea of hearing it again made her happy, anxiety also ate her up too. What if Beth thought she didn't want to hear from her and decided to forget her? Did she ruin the friendship? Would she be able to fix it? Would the girl be excited to hear from her? Did she ruin her chance at there being something? Did Colette tell her to be wary of her presence? All those rampant thoughts dissipated the moment the sleep layered voice seeped into the woman's ear, like demerara gold, her voice was as sweet and soothing as sugar cane in a warm cup of tea.
"You're the only one who'd call me with an unknown number you know," Beth immediately said and Petra smiled. It was nice that she recognized her even when she didn't call with her usual number.
"I like being a mystery to people,"
"And I like mysteries."
"What else do you like?"
