Beth learned that Petra was indeed as agile as a cat. She'd never seen someone hide so quickly and in such a cramped space in seconds until the moment they both heard the creaking of the floorboards outside her room. The girl didn't have to go out to talk to whoever was there but for the sake of not being chided just in case she was discovered she asked the older woman to hide. It took a few minutes before the lights in the hallway were off again and when the darkness returned, the blonde sighed with relief.

Paddling through the dim room, Beth went over to Petra after she came from her heading spot. She stood in front of the woman, enthralled by the way the light from outside slipped past the curtains and illuminated the vampire's face, her brown eyes seemed to glow too.

"I'm sorry you needed to do that,"

"I like an adventure, I wouldn't have mind hanging from the ceilings either," said the woman, wrapping her arms around the blonde's waist and she chuckled.

"I'm sorry I can't stay longer," said Petra when the silence eased between them.

"Why can't you spend the night, do you have to leave?"

"I could stay until you fall asleep but after that, I need to go,"

Placing her head against the woman's chest, Beth hugged her and the longer she laid her head there she didn't feel a heartbeat, not even a vibration which she thought was odd but she didn't bring it up. A grin simply stretched across her face when she remembered what transpired moments prior. She'd never done something like that before, never snuck anyone in her parent's house, never had sex in her bed, never hid a grown woman in the dark.

"I'd appreciate that so much,"

Back over to the bed, Petra curled up against the girl, both their visages facing the other. At that moment, the vampire knew within her heart that being there was where she was meant to be. It took a little long for her to accept what she felt was a deep infatuation she never even felt for Adira. She always thought she loved the woman and she did but the way she felt for Beth was denoting to be more, way more than fondness.

"I would like to take you away some time," she mumbled, allowing the blonde to curl her warm fingers against hers, it felt so nice.

"Take me where?"

"To show you my world, to tell you the truth, to enlighten you,"

The young woman chuckled. "Tell me the truth about what?"

"About me and why I'm here and about everything else,"

Beth realized the woman wasn't joking and her smile faltered. What could be so serious that Petra needed to take her away to reveal it?

"Did you kill someone, are you involved in crime? Because if you are it would make sense, that stab wound you had the last time I saw you it-"

"When I tell you the truth you'll understand that as well,"

There was a pause. Petra saw the girl's rapt eyes scan her face and she knew there would be a surge of questions coming her way but she would answer them all in due time.

"I'm worried,"

"Don't be," she cupped the girl's face and Beth realized she'd never felt Petra being warm, ever. It didn't necessarily scare her but she was curious, was she sick? Was that why she was so vague about most things? Was that why she felt the woman was lying to her?

"There's nothing to be scared of, I promise you,"

"Okay,"

Petra smiled. She leaned forward and brushed her lips against Beth's soft ones, allowing the girl to snuggle up to her and for the first time in forever, the woman felt a calm sweep across her mind and body. It was like God themself had come down and quelled whatever chaos that was present inside of her. And for the first time, Petra understood why Adira went bat shit crazy when she learned she tried to kill her beloved, for the vampire felt similar feelings. She would kill to keep her and Beth's blossoming relationship safe.
