The next day couldn't have come any sooner. Miki drew me an outfit to wear to the park. I ate my breakfast and chose to leave the house early and headed to the park. Ami wouldn't be home until later in the evening unless she calls to spend another night with her friend. I would then walk around the busy park, listening to the music that local artists played and the laughter from others. I sat at an empty bench, playing with the Humpty lock that I still wore every day around my neck. The current time Is 11:30 AM, only thirty minutes until Utau and I are supposed to meet up.
I would hum softly, while Ran, Miki, Su, and Dia all played together in the flower patch beside the bench. I could hear their laughter and giggles while I looked around the park, looking for Utau. I wasn't going to worry if she's late or not, I know she's trying to also get caught up with her own friends and family.
I looked down at the flower patch that the girls are still playing in, watching them for a little while longer, the time now being 11:45 AM, I would sigh out softly, and continue to watch the girls while they played. I was beginning to get nervous. I mean it has been a long while since I've properly hung out with her. fifteen more minutes roll on by and I suddenly hear "Yo, Amu" I begin to look up in confusion, I mean to voice sounds familiar, but I couldn't put a face to it.
I turn my head to look over and see Yoru and Ikuto on their way over. I sat there in shock, my eyes wide and my hand gripping the lock tightly as it still hung around my neck. "Ikuto..!" had come from my lips as I watched him get closer to me. I stood up, Yoru zooming past me to greet the girls while Ikuto was now standing in front of me. I would then release the lock, wrapping my arms tightly around Ikuto's waist, hugging him.
A small chuckle erupted from him as he wrapped his arms around me in return. "I've missed you too, Amu." He said softly while tears would race down my cheeks. "Wh-When did you get back..?" I asked him softly, yet still confused. "Why didn't anyone tell me you were back?" I asked wiping my tears away once we let the hug go.
"I got back last night, no one said anything because I wanted it to be a surprise." He let out a small laugh, as we looked back at each other. "No one told you because Utau was the only one who knew and I wasn't going to have some kiddy king ruin my one chance of surprising you~" He teased out a bit causing me to give a light glare.
"That wasn't nice." I said softly as I covered my mouth with my hand to hide my tired yawn from him. Even though I slept through the night, I still felt like I needed more sleep. I saw for a mere second a frow on Ikuto's face. He sat on the bench with me now sitting beside him. "I want to know all about your trip over the years," I said softly. "Did you find him..?" I asked.
"I did actually. In Tokyo. He's really cool, offered me a position in an orchestra that he owns." He said looking over at me, my head in my hands as he spoke. "He asked me if I had anyone back here to get back to." I held my breath as he continued to talk. "I told him that I had two, actually. Utau and a certain little strawberry." I could hear the smirk as he spoke. I looked over at him, my cheeks were red with blush.
"What did you tell him about the position?" I asked curiously. "And a strawberry? I don't understand." I was still confused.
"I didn't take it. I had to come back here, Amu." I said plainly, all I could do was nod my head and look back at the ground. He would then explain to me the rest of his trip and the places he's been to. I explained what he's missed, from me moving up through school, to me and Tadase never being together after he had left all the way up until now.
Of course, I left out the part of me not getting a lot of sleep. I couldn't I doubt he'd even care for that knowledge anyway. "Amu, you're missing something." He sighed out. "Utau told me about your lack of sleep." He said standing up, offering his hand to me, without taking his hand, I stood up, looking up to him, and shrugged. "A small detail that I didn't want you to know of." I stated, walking over towards the greenhouse, where I had first heard him play, where I'd go even when I shouldn't.
As I started to walk away, Ran, Miki, Su, and Dia moved over to me and sat on my shoulders. They knew where I was going and didn't ask me any questions. I could tell that Ikuto was following me, I had gotten better at listening for softer, quieter sounds such as footsteps.
I sat on the steps outside of the greenhouse and looked up at Ikuto as he still made his way over. Truthfully, I was glad that he's back, I've missed him, I've missed being annoyed, flustered, and overall being around him. Once Ikuto sat beside me, I began to explain when the dreams started, what happens during them, and what happens after. I didn't bother to look up at Ikuto, I knew he was watching me, all I could do while I spoke was hug my legs while I closed my eyes.
"I've missed you, y'know? I don't think I've really been the same since you left. Things have been weird and confusing." I said as I looked at the five charas who were all playing on the bottom step.
