June and Eden keep giving me weird looks as we walk over to our new apartment. One of them will look at my face, smirk and then lean in to talk to the other and after this happens 3 times I finally say something. "Is there something on my face?" I ask in earnest
"No." June says, and she looks innocent enough.
"Is my face bothering you in some way?"
"No, Day, your face is fine."
"Good, cause you're acting weird." I say. She snickers and walks ahead. Sighing I pull Eden along with me and soon we are at the apartment.
It's small but it's perfect for Eden and me. "What does it look like?" he asks.
I shrug "Empty. Bland."
"Well yeah obviously but like how big?"
"Big enough"
"Thanks Daniel. You're being suuuuper helpful." he says sarcastically.
"It looks to be a 5 room apartment. 2 bedrooms, connected by a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room space which we are in right now, as well as a laundry room around the corner. The walls are a light grey and there are plenty of windows but I assume you could already tell that." June says in her best "I know everything and I am always right" voice.
"Thank you June!" Exclaims Eden. "At least someone here is helpful."
Sighing, I pull him along. "Come on, pick your bedroom." I say.
He grins at me. "Which one is bigger?"
"No way man! I get the bigger one," I laugh. "I'm the bigger person so I get the bigger room."
"That is not how it works." he states matter-of-factly.
"Is too how it works."
"Nope."
June let's out an exasperated sigh. "How you two get anything done is beyond me." She shakes her head, ponytail swishing. "Day, you take that one," she says pointing to the one on the right, "and Eden you get that one. They're the same size anyway."
"Fine" we both grumble. I take Eden into his room then walk into mine. There are two windows on one wall, a closet in the corner, a built in bookshelf and a door which I assume leads to the bathroom.
I open the bathroom door and inside is a small, simple room. One shower, a toilet and a sink.
After a good hour of walking around, exploring the new place and chasing each other through the rooms, June shouts at me from the kitchen. "Day! There's a moldy pizza in your fridge!"
"Lovely." I mutter under my breath. "Coming!" When I am back out, June is holding a reeking pizza box as far away from her as possible. The look on her face is cute and the way she sticks her hip out to one side is hot- wait! I think, what the hell is happening? Why am I thinking like this?
"What do you want me to do with it?" She asks me, keeping one eye on the pizza as if it will jump out and get her. It's adorable.
"Um, let's go find the dumpster outside." She nods. "Eden we're going to go find the trash outside. We'll be back in a few minutes." I say peeking into his room. He is hunched over the windowsill eyes squinting and face close to the glass. "What on earth are you doing?" I ask him
"Well, I wanted to open the window but the lock is broken. So I'm fixing it."
"Ok. Just as long as you don't fall to your death." He doesn't say anything in return, just waves me off.
