As we are finishing getting ready, Lucy knocks on the door. I'm still kind of terrified to leave Eden but June helps to calm my nerves.

Lucy comes in, looking around. "Oh you have a beautiful place here June!" she exclaims.

"Thank you!" I let them talk, pulling Eden aside. I'm not used to him wearing makeup so every time I look at him I have to do a double take. I'll admit, June did a phenomenal job.

He's still grinning, trying to see what it looks like in the mirror. "Eden, we gotta leave now." His smile drops. This is the first time he'll be alone with Lucy.

"Have fun on your date." He says and I can tell he's trying to keep face. Trying not to let me see how afraid he is.

"Oh kid, come here." I pull him in close. "We will have fun. And I bet you'll have fun with Lucy too. It'll be ok, ok?" He nods against me. "We're gonna get lunch then do a few things. We should be back before dinner, but if not, try not to worry. And if you need anything, just have Lucy call me."

"Ok." He pulls out of the hug, grabbing my hand instead. I lead him out to the living room where June is waiting for me. She looks amazing. Well more amazing than usual that is.

I put Eden's hand in Lucy's, kissing the top of his head once more before I let go. He looks very awkward standing there, holding her hand but not as scared as I thought he'd be. As I am closing the door I hear him ask her to turn on some music.

"You ready for this?" I ask June

"What do you have planned?" She pulls me in, wrapping her arm around my waist.

"You'll just have to see. It's not very fancy, I hope that's ok." I say, almost nervous.

She laughs. "You know I hate things where I have to dress up. Not fancy is a good thing."

"That's right!" I say smirking at her. "I know all this stuff already. I don't have to worry about which flower is her favorite or, what's her favorite food."

"I'm gonna test you, what are my favorite flowers and food?"

"Flower is irises and you don't have a favorite food but you love eating at coffee houses because they give you good vibes. This test is easy." We both laugh, climbing into the car.

"Correct."

"Well good thing, because I picked up irises on the way home from the bank and our first stop is a coffee house."

"Really?!" She looks at me excitedly

"Yep, we're picking up some lunch, listening to a little slam poetry then bringing our food to an undisclosed location." She grins and pecks me on the cheek.

"You are amazing."

"I know. But you're even more amazing than me, which is saying something."

"Modest, I see."

"As I've always been." I grin at her, pulling out of the driveway.

We play bad 80s music and sing at the top of our lungs all the way to the coffee house. It's amazing. I love that I can still still be like this around June. Everything has changed but also not very much.

The sun is shining bright in the sky and there are people bustling in the streets. Children laughing, couples kissing and birds chirping. Today couldn't be a better day for our first date.

When we pull into the cafe parking lot I take June's hand and lead her inside, finding a small table in the corner. We look at their menus and decide on a few good looking paninis as well as a couple of desserts. We have them package it up to go but we stay, watching the poetry for a few minutes.
