This, to put it plainly, is awkward. I have no idea what to talk about with Metias, and he seems too shy to even start a conversation. So here we are, sitting in silence on June's couch, sipping lemonades.

"So..." I say. "Do you want to do anything?"

"I don't care, whatever you want to do is fine by me." he says and I sigh. He's not making this easy.

"Ok, how about we play a board game?" I suggest.

"Sounds great!" he jumps up faster than I thought possible. "What game do you want to play? Your options are Sorry or..." he pauses, "Sorry. Yeah those are the options. Our board game collection is impressive right?"

I give a small laugh. "I think I'll go with Sorry." He chuckles, walking back over. "Just so you know, you are probable going to have to move my pieces. I can read the cards if I squint but I feel like if I try to move things the board will just...die."

He laughs again. "Fine by me." We set it up and begin playing. Ten minutes goes by and he is very obviously beating me. Honestly it's kind of nice that he doesn't just automatically let me win.

Suddenly he pauses and sucks in a breath. "What?" I ask. "Is everything ok?"

"Oh yeah, everything's fine. It's just...can I, can I tell you something."

"Yeah sure." I say, mildly confused.

"Ok. I'm not really sure how to begin. I'm going to confide in you something I haven't even told June. I'm afraid to tell her. Honestly I just don't know how."

"Ok..." I'm getting a little nervous. "I'm sure whatever it is June will understand. She's amazing like that, she accepts you for whoever or whatever you are."

"I know, I know, but you don't understand. It's not that I'm afraid of how she will react it's just I'm not sure I'm ready to tell her. It's a big deal to me and I just can't figure out if I want to or how to let her know at all. Also wow, this conversation got serious really fast."

I give a small laugh. "Yeah it did. Now just tell me whenever you're ready. Think of it as practice for June. I'm your warm up."

"Ok here we go." He takes a deep breath and I can tell he's nervous. I wonder what it is that's so important. What can he tell me that he can't tell June? "I...am gay." He lets out a deep breath and it takes all of my self control not to laugh.

"Metias, I know. It's kind of obvious actually."

"Wait, seriously? Do you think June knows?" He asks, surprised.

"Yes, seriously, and I'm not sure if she know or not. It's not exactly something we talk about."

"Well...shit. I though I was doing a good job of hiding it. Shit." He laughs nervously then claps a hand over his mouth. "Ah, sorry for the uh, language."

I blink at him few times. "You do know who my brother is, right?" At this he laughs out loud.

"Yes I know Daniel. But he holds back around you, doesn't he?"

I shake my head, laughing. "No Metias, he holds back around you."

"Why on Earth would he hold back around me?" Metias chuckles.

"Hell if I know, yeah? I love goddy swear words so much, it takes all of my effort to refrain around Metias." I say, doing my best impression of Daniel, which granted, isn't very good.

Metias is laughing full out now. "I'm not even going to pretend that was good." he snickers. "That was just terrible."

"I honestly agree and it is something that I will never try to attempt again." I laugh.

"Ok but I need you to promise me something." He says getting serious again.

"Yeah anything."

"Just promise me you won't tell June. I'll tell her as soon as I work up the courage, I just need more time.

"I promise I won't say a word to her. You will be the only person she hears about it from. Just promise me that you will tell her. She'll support you no matter what, I can tell you that.

"Thanks Eden. This means a lot."

"Anytime."

"Oh one more thing. Can you not tell Daniel either. It's just I know they tell each other everything so...yeah" he drifts off.

This last request makes me a bit uncomfortable. "I don't know Metias, I don't keep anything from my brother, I just can't. I can try but if he asks me, I'm not going to lie, I'm sorry."

"No, no it's ok. I don't expect you to lie to Daniel for me, or June for that matter just don't bring it up in casual conversation y'know?"

"Yeah, sure. I understand."

"Thanks again. And thanks for listening. You're actually really good at it."

I blush at the compliment. "Well when you can't see, hearing becomes much easier." He freezes and then we both burst out laughing.

The rest of the afternoon goes by in a breeze of jokes and board games.
