spring begins on the morning baby birds are heard outside chirping as their mother sets off into the sky before diving below to touch the dewy grass tips with her beak, warning any worms below of her presence.
it begins when the sun hides itself behind puffy, white clouds, insecure of its own rays. the swift breeze is there, but it does not feel like winter when it brushes up your skin.
you know only spring has begun when yeosang runs in your direction from across the high school parking lot with a random white but pink tinted single flower in his hand. he does not know what kind it is and neither do you but when he extends it with a smile, you take it from your boyfriend.
yeosang breathes out, his heart pumping from the distance he had ran, "i picked it up from my neighbor's garden."
"i'm pretty sure that's illegal." he only laughs at your remark but you're quick to hold it down by your side in case anyone comes after him trying to search for the missing flower. "in my defense, it was begging me to bring it to you."
you shake your head and walk with him towards the entrance of the school, "yes, i'm sure it was screaming 'take me! take me!'"
he rolls his eyes at you but you cling onto his arm, leaning against him. the students standing and sitting around minded their own business but could not stop sneaking glances at the two of you.
you were such young birds, in love with the presence of each other that the thought of ever losing each other never even came up. it was not a simple love that the two of you share, a bond held even by the slightest things like intertwining your fingers together, small kisses on the cheek, and lovestruck gazes in the classrooms,
but for now, it was a spring love that will last forever.
