16- Keeping it together

There was only one time in my life that i lied to myself, well to be honest i prefer to be lied to instead of being told the truth because the truth hurts. The thing i discovered in nagito basement wasn't my best experience so what!? I'll just get over it eventually forgetting about it yeah that's the way i see it. Or maybe it's just me not wanting to believe it. I think I've gone delusional that's just it.... Yeah ......................................

The cop that called me that day just wanted me to go over to the station because we had something to discuss. So that's what i did, i left nagito house on my way to the station i stayed rational.

When I arrived at the station i was greeted by Mr. johnson the cop i talked to. He took me to the main office where all the other officers were. He introduced me to the main boss, that i wanted to volunteer in this investigation so he gladly accepted me in! We we're all basically talking, about the missing girl (lara) the one that went missing a few weeks ago. They questioned me so i gave them a clear answer but what intrigued me the most was is that they had some solid evidence from the victim. So after Laura went missing they've found one of her hair clips and a piece of clothing of what they assumed was the culprit.

Basically what she was wearing that last day I saw her was a white skirt with a brown sweatshirt but that's not what they found they found green frabic from a shirt that the culprit was wearing.That's when i remembered.... That day she was acting strange but she wasn't the only one acting strange so was nagito. Me and him were hanging out you know doing the usual but suddenly he told me that he had somewhere to go and so I understood and didn't ask but he was wearing a green shirt...

The officers assumed the culprit was a kidnapper that may still have the victim either dead or alive. All of this was starting to make more sense now it added up I can't say how I was feeling at the moment because it just didn't feel right so I still stood up for what I believed and for what I didn't want to believe. Mr. Johnson was assigned to patrol the school along with me I didn't mind it because I mean I was the one that wanted to participate in this thing in the first place so I had no other choice.

Some major exams were coming up this week which i wasn't very ready for. This just added much more stress into my plate. I was on and on thinking about nagito case and how i wasn't able to hold everything together. I'll say one thing it wasn't easy going on in an investigation, patrolling plus having to study. Nagito helped me studying though he was so intelligent, i was glad  he was by my side but Mr. Johnson said other wise.

Nagito and I we're studying in the library for my next exam.

"Hey (y/n) can i ask you something and answer me with the truth" i felt a little nervous for what he was gonna ask.

"Did u go to the basement that day" he looked at me with a very serious expression i felt myself sweating a little

"No...." I reply with uncertainty

"Are you sure?" He continues to not  break his stare towards me

"Nagito i-"

"Will talk about this later I'll be waiting and don't run away" he leaves with a smile on his face.

Was i really gonna get murdered!? No this can't be happening! Im to young to die! Calm down (y/n) im probably over thinking things... God dammit i should've just told him the truth instead of lying to him now im gonna die for sure. No he can't do that because he loves me and i love him right? So he wouldn't kill me I'll face the truth even if it means death!

                     TIME SKIP~

Following that afternoon i went to my afternoon classes until school had finally ended. I proceeded to go to nagito house once again facing of what was coming next.

I slam the doors open seeing him sitting in the couch with a evil smirk.

"So u finally arrived"

"Nagito why don't you tell me the truth and so will I" i claim

"Fine since your being so persistent i will, first of all if your wondering if i killed her your answer is yes"

My expression turned to a shock one and as i was about to speak but he did

"I did it to protect you"

"What do you mean protect me!? I thought i told you i don't need anybody to protect me i could protect myself!"

"Wait listen to me im not done yet. i did it because she was a piece of trash she was trying to take you away from me i wasn't gonna let her do that i saw the way she looked at you and it meant harm, she was planing on getting rid of you because she wanted me! all she did was befriend you! Trick you!" He pleaded

"No your wrong she was-" i felt tears running down my face

"You're friend? Is what you're trying to say? Darling she wasn't you're friend she was just tricking you that was her plan all along!"

"You're-" i didn't know what to say other than "Prove it!" I yelled to him

He got out his phone from his pocket "take a look for yourself" he hands me his phone and a video starts playing. It was lara talking with nagito they were here in his house...

In video~

"I know what you're trying to do do you think (y/n) is that dumb!"

"Well i don't think i know, she's already fallen deep deep down" she starts laughing " you see all it took was for us to get a little closer so i would win her trust that little pathetic girl actually thinks im her friend isn't that crazy!? Well I've sealed the deal haven't i? Now u have to get with me whether you like it or not!"

Nagito stared her down with such an angry expression "i don't think so" were his last words until the video stopped playing....

Back to situation~

I didn't understand before but I understand now I was a fool for trusting her I thought she was my friend! But I was wrong she was out for  nagito my boyfriend! She was the one who deserved to die! All nagito was trying to do was protect me and I ruined everything.
