"Oh, boy." I say, hand in hand with my fiance- the freaking fire ninja and protector of the realm, Kai Smith.
"Oh, boy." Echoes Kai. He takes a deep breath and squeezes my hand, the gold ring digs into the side of my fingers. The small, simple action causes adrenaline to raise my heart rate tenfold. I love it. "Are you ready?" He asks.
I stare at the street infront of me. It was a completely ordinary street full of ordinary people on an ordinary day busy with their ordinary lives.
"Not in the slightest." I decide.
Kai laughs. "First public appearance together since becoming engaged. Should be fun..." he sounds down right terrified. He uses his other hand to push his sunglasses higher onto his nose. "But, no time like the present."
"I wish I could freeze time." I muse. He hums and pulls us into the foot traffic. It all goes well for the first 5 minutes. We walk with the crowd in regular looking clothes, heading to our coffee shop to seek some time together away from training-obsesed sensei's. Also simultaneously trying to avoid reporters and the aggressive media.
As I said: This attempt lasted not a second longer than 5 minutes. Thank you to the young man who ran into Kai and loudly proclaimed our likeness to ourselves. Yes, you know who you are.
My mind flashes back to the day Kai and I first met, him being chased by a typhoon of fans and me being just an innocent bystander. Now I was running right along with him down the same streets of Ninjago city.
"Mr. Smith!"
"Miss. L/n!"
"Kai!"
"S/n! " (An: Ship name)
"Kai! Y/n!"
"Kaiiiiiii!"
"How did you ever survive this?" I pant as we turn a corner.
"I have mo idea." Said Kai, pulling me along. "You know, still not as bad as sunrise exercise though."
I laugh as we turn another corner and a phone box catches my eye. "In here!" I say and pull us in before the crowd catches up.
We hold our breath as the stampede passes. I realize, with a smile, how close we are in the small space, Kai's and my chest almost pressed against each other, our faces inches apart, sharing a breath as we stare into each other's eyes.
Kai smiles his devilish smile and leans down slightly. I meet him half way and kiss him, moving my hands from being entwined with his to his chest, then tgey wonder up his shoulders and around his neck. (My elbow knocking the pay phone off its hook as I do so)
He eventually pulls back to breathe, kissing my nose on the way. I open my eyes and look up at him. The fire in his eyes glows brightly and there's a blissful smile on his face.
I give him one in return.
Over his shoulder, I catch a glimpse at my watch.
"Sugar." I curse.
"Yeah?" Asks Kai.
I giggle and push him against the wall of the phone booth (wich wasn't much) to wiggle around him and get out. "Not you, silly, I'm nearly late for my shift."
As we continue our walk, Kai deflates behind me. "Oh." Is all he says. Our idea for a peaceful walk had all but been destroyed.
"Want to take my dragon?" He asks, hope leaking into his voice. I stop and look to to the sky in thought.
"Why not?"
Kai pumps his arm and the red, smoky, semi-transparent dragon appears before us on the road. A car honks and waves at us as they pass. Arthur's long neck reaches down until he's eye level with us. Kai gives him a quick pat before helping me up his leg to his back.
