Chapter 9

Avyrain gently shoved the hand that warmly touched her face which was just stinging with pain from the slap

"I'm fine, why are you here?" Avyrain asked

"I overheard them talking about you, they were 2nd years" Kaleid replied

"I didn't think they would go as far as to go to the 3rd years territory just to said those, girls sure are weird" he added

"Do you know how to get back to the quarters?" Avyrain casually asked

Kaleid nodded his head as he walked ahead

Just then, a spider suddenly landed on Avyrain's hand

Avyrain screamed as she run aggressively

At that moment, she suddenly fell into a hollow pit and rolled herself down to the bottom

Kaleid rushed towards her and immediately jumped from the hollow pit

"Did you got hurt?" Kaleid asked as he surveyed her body

"I just instinctively ran by the sight of the huge spider on my hand" Avyrain stated looking all flustered

Kaleid laughed aloud seeing Avyrain's expression

"Why are you laughing?" Avyrain asked

"You always act calm around me, it's quite amusing seeing your embarrassed face" Kaleid replied with a chuckle

Avyrain gazed at Kaleid intently whose laughing face was shining brightly with her flashlight focused on him adding a light to his dazzling face

Feeling Avyrain's gaze, Kaleid looked at her as he asked "Can you get up?"

Avyrain snapped back as she thought to herself

‘That was close, my heart almost skipped a beat’

She slowly got up but then suddenly lost her balance and fell at Kaleid's arm

Kaleid walked in front of Avyrain with his back faced, he stooped down

"I'll carry you on my back" he stated

"No need, I can walk just fine" Avyrain replied

"Don't be so stubborn or else I'll leave you alone with the spiders" Kaleid stated

Avyrain heaved a low sigh as she relented to Kaleid

Thus, Kaleid carried Avyrain on his back as they walk along the road

In a quiet and long narrow road in the forest where two people's breathing could be heard

Avyrain felt that the walk seems to be endless but she felt calm as the broad back that was carrying her seems to be reliable

"Just friends, are you alright with it?" Kaleid suddenly asked breaking the silence

"With you?" Avyrain asked back

Kaleid nodded his head in response

"I don't mind being friends" Avyrain calmly replied

"Then as friends, you don't have to act so cold to me and just freely express what you feel just like today" he stated

Avyrain didn't know what kind of expression Kaleid has nevertheless she gently patted his shoulder

"Okay" she replied

As they arrived back at the 3rd years cottage, they bid goodbye with each other as Kaleid returned back to his quarter

"I never knew you were lost, I just thought you met up with Valt" Iris stated as she prepared herself to go to bed
