"Rylee, for the love of god, can you please come do the dishes" I groaned in frustration. It was becoming tiring to have to clean up after the both of us every single day without any help around the house. Most days, I felt like I had more of the feminine qualities than my sister Rylee did.

"Take out whatever stick you have up your ass. It's not that serious" Rylee said, announcing her presence into the kitchen.

Not wanting to waste anymore of my breath, I inhaled deeply and finally just walked away. Sometimes, I felt like I got stuck raising a child I didn't ask for. Sure my uncle provided for us but he wasn't here most days because of his job. Even so, he didn't sign up for this and we all know he didn't want kids in his lifetime. Unfortunately for him, he got stuck with us when my parents were killed in a freak accident years ago. Or so they say. Yet, that didn't stop him from coming and going as he pleases. He still shows he loves us in his own way but I've definitely taken on the most important responsibilities on raising us.

Hence, why I couldn't go to the winter formal tonight because my little sister got suspended once again from school so she was grounded. Who grounded her? Yours truly. So, not only does her punishment effect her, but it also applies to me because I have to make sure she doesn't sneak out once again to do whatever she thinks she's old enough to do.

Once I was in my room, I decided to catch up on some reading for my calculus class. Trying to keep Rylee on track with her shit, I was falling behind on my usual track. Instead of being a week ahead on my classes, I was now right on track with the lessons and it irked me so bad. I've never fallen behind and I didn't plan to start now.

Pushing my black rimmed glasses further up my face, my attention was once again distracted by the alert from my phone. Absently letting my hand search for my phone on my bed, I turned my focus on to the message.

Lydias in the hospital. I need you.

"Shit"

Like the flick of a switch, adrenaline was pumping through my veins. I quickly grabbed my wallet and stuffed it into my pockets along with my phone, and bolted down the hall to where my sister was singing in the kitchen while doing the dishes- for once.

"I just wanna break up all your shit, call your mama phone, let her know that she raised a-"

"Rylee, I-"

My sister screamed out loud, splashing water and soap everywhere while looking at me frantically.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! You know I hate being scared like that" she rolled her eyes expertly.

"Look, I have to go to the hospital. I'll be back as soon as possible. Don't answer the door for anyone, I got my key to the house" I quickly explained as fast as I could.
