VIII
A little boy stood at the end of a dock, looking over the vast lake before him. It was eerily quiet but peaceful; the water was calm and the faint sound of birds bounced off the trees. A light mist coated the air, creating a humid environment.A tall man walked from behind the little boy, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"What did Mama tell you about coming out here on your own?" the older man asked.
The little boy continued looking out to the water.
"I'm sorry, Dad. I just wanted it to be quiet" the little boy replied, an underlying tone of tiredness in his voice.
"I know, son. It's a nice view out here, isn't it?"
"Sometimes I try to imagine what it would be like to be a normal kid. Without having to worry about people trying to hurt us all the time. Why can't they just leave us alone?" The little boy questioned.
"Because the people that try to hurt us, are the same people that are afraid of change. They're not ready for people like us to coexist with them and it scares them that we're stronger. What they fail to realize is that we're human... just like them" the Dad said.
"I just want this to be all over"
The dad bit his lip trying to keep control of his emotions, letting his sons words sink in.
"One day you will understand why we did what we have to do. It's not going to be easy and you're going to need someone to stand by your side. Because when the day comes they find out you're a still alive... that will be the day the truth comes to light"
"But Dad, none of this makes any sense" the eleven year old boy said looking up at his dad.
"It will" the man said holding his hand to the cheek of the young one. "But today- today, you're not going to remember any of this"
Realization sunk in to the kid at what was about to happen. "No! Dad, don't do this!", the little boy yelled trying to pull away but the dad kept a strong grip. Tears slid down the older mans face, utter pain displayed.
"I love you and your sister" the man sobbed.
"Im so sorry, Leo"

Rylee threw a pillow at a spaced out Leo, hitting him in the face. Her brother glared at her while she held a smirk.
"Can I help you?" Leo asked, getting up from the couch while sitting his laptop down where he was doing school work.
"Actually, I think you can help me with something" Rylee concurred. Leo creased his eyebrows together, gesturing for her to get on with her point. "By any chance, have you seen a six foot two male, stunning blue eyes, dashing smile?"
