"A monster marrying the Beast. How fitting."

A brunette girl looked up at the cloudy sky above her as she closed her eyes. She was dressed up beautifully in a red wedding dress with yellow embroidery, mimicking gold threads. Her long brown hair was combed neatly and up in a complex style with two needles through it to hold her hair together. Only red lipstick was applied on her face to highlight her lips. Despite dressing up so beautifully for her wedding, she didn't show any excitement or joy. Her eyes showed no fear, no hatred, and no anything. It was empty and lifeless, as if she had given up in life.

Around the girl, several girls her age were pacing around, making sure the bride was ready. They checked her clothes, hair, makeup, and skin before they sighed in relief. It took forever for them to doll up the bride. An elderly lady entered the room with a beautiful red veil. She placed it over the bride's head, carefully not to ruin her hairdo. When everything is ready, the girls slowly bring the red bride to the wagon. During the whole process, no one spoke.

'Leaf, ah, Leaf. I guess this is your end now? A red wedding dress for a wedding between two monsters. Who didn't know that the dress is only there so that when the bride dies, she will die beautifully?' the bride thought as she looked at the passing surroundings under her red veil.

Leaf knew that once she left the village, she would never return. Even if she survived, she can never return unless she had a death wish. Leaf knew this, but she didn't care. This is her release from the village, from the people who would point at her everywhere she goes. She had no feelings toward the village that treats her worse than a pet.

Leaf knew that once she left the village, she would never return. Even if she survived, she can never return unless she had a death wish. Leaf knew this, but she didn't care. This is her release from the village, from the people who would point at her everywhere she goes. She had no feelings toward the village that treats her worst than a pet.

"Oh, the Lord of the Dark Forest! Oh, the great being! Please accept our offerings to you!" the head priest of the village exclaimed with his arms wide open to the sky. Everyone in the village moved together to the Dark Forest after the wagon Leaf was in.

The road was rocky and the ride was agonizing and the journey was depressing. Even though the people around Leaf were not the one being sacrificed, Leaf can feel their fear and their shivers in the air. Everyone feared making a mistake and caused anger in the beast.

Leaf sighed. The people would never change. "This ritual is basically an excuse to execute 'witches' in the village. I don't think anyone ever saw the beast. The ladies they sent years before died because of the wild animals in the first. Who else would ask someone to wear such a bright right in the middle of the dark forest? If that is not a death sentence, I wonder what it is," Leaf said in her mind as she sorted out her thoughts.

Leaf was never close to her isolated village. She knew that she was never considered a citizen since she was born because of her blood. She was an orphan. She never understood why she was disliked by the people and why people always targeted her. However, she never felt hatred for the people, only disgust.

Suddenly, Leaf felt something wet and soft touching her hand. She tilted her back up to look at the sky slowing. Her hands slowly reached out a bit. 'Snow?' she thought when her eyes followed a snowflake down from the sky and into her hands before it melted. She then began to feel a few more snowflakes falling to her hand. The people who saw such actions cannot help but gasp at the elegant action. It was as if she just jumped out of a painting, a fairy from the skies.

Some villagers felt pity for the young girl. But it is only a pity that such a beautiful girl is being sacrificed. They didn't care if anything happened to Leaf after they left her in the forest.

When everyone reached into the dark forest, the rest of the villagers stopped and prayed as they watched the priest with some heavy men push the bride into the forest along with other offerings. They stopped at a shrine in the forest and placed Leaf down along with the other offerings while the priest did his chant before they all left, leaving Leaf alone.

After a few moments of silence, Leaf only heard the sound of the howling of the wind and no footsteps. She can hear the noises and snores of the wild animals in the dark forest. She lifted the veil in front of her so her face was exposed to the cold. Leaf shivers a little before she stands up from the wagon and jumps off. She dusted her dress while observing the environment around her. The sun was slowly setting, romanticizing the forest.

"But the second the sun sets, I will be dead. I don't think anyone will help me here. It is better to find some way to survive for another second than staying here," Leaf muttered to herself, picking up some cold and frozen bread and freezing it and placing it in a basket. "Better to find a way to survive than to stay here and wait. I will come back later, hopefully for the rest of the food." Picking up everything she needs, Leaf began to job deeper into the forest, hoping to find shelter to hide from the cold. She didn't know how big the snowfall would be.

After walking around mindlessly for a while down a path, she came across a small and cozy hut. She walked around it, examining the house. Seeing that no one seemed to be at home, she walked toward the front door and opened it since it was unlocked.

"Pardon me," Leaf said to the dark house before walking in.

The small room is very cozy and neat. It was separated into four sections, without walls beside the bathroom. There is a bed by the corner of the room, a kitchen, and a living room/ dining room. After trudging in a pair of flat shoes in one-inch deep snow, Leaf cannot help but to feel frozen and tired. She can feel her consciousness slowly fading away. She placed her basket on the table and dragged herself to the bed before she got unconscious.
