"You better give me a good reason as to why I should not bury you right here and now. I swear no one will ever find you," Leaf growled as she sat on the dining table with both her arms and her legs crossed. She glared at the two men in front of her, who were tied up in two chairs.

Leaf knew that it would be hard for her to escape since the two newcomers knew where the secret passage was. Leaf would run down the tunnel to the outside and run away, but it would alert the two other men who had just left. Based on the snow covered on the ground, the two men shouldn't go far.

Leaf knew that she needed to think of a plan if she didn't want to be captured. Even though it is highly likely that the two current men knew the layout of the cottage and can be acquaintances of Gary, they were not acquaintances of her. Leaf was always flexible and stealthy. If she had a good plan, she could ambush the two men, even if she had never seen them before. Based on their voices and their footsteps, Leaf knew that they were young and skilled.

Leaf waited silently at the entrance of the tunnel. Her ears are alert, hearing every small noise in the cottage. The second she heard the two men stepped in front of the secret passage, she lashed out, leading to the current situation.

"Lady, let us go, okay? No need to have violence here. We can just sit around and have some tea," one of the men with dark hair said.

Leaf just stared at him. "What would I get out of it by letting you go? You may want to run away or even attack. Why should I put myself in danger? Now, tell me who the heck are you and what you are doing here," Leaf repeated.

"No need for violence! No need for violence! We are just here to check if Gary is here. It is about time again, and he is nowhere to be found. We are not here for anything!" the dark-headed man replied to Leaf after he noticed that he cannot undo the knot behind him.

"You guys know Gary? What do you mean the time again? Give me more details," Leaf demanded.

"Lady! That is not how you would treat someone, okay?" the black-headed man cried.

"Ash, you need to keep your mouth shut and stay shut. You have too much energy to talk, and it is hurting my ears," the green-headed companion said with a sigh as he looked at Leaf. "And miss, we can not tell you that information because it is very secretive. Just as you do not trust us, we do not trust you either."

"Hm. Gary sure does give me extra problems. Do you know where he might have been?" Leaf asked after thinking for a while.

"We know where he usually went, but he wasn't there. That's why we came over to see if he had forgotten. It didn't seem like he forgot as well," the green-headed man replied, speaking as if he was talking to himself.

Leaf just rolled her eyes and got down from the table. She stood up and stretched a bit. "If you are here for Gary, he is not at home. Come by later," she said while undoing the tie around the two men.

The two men looked at each other and then looked at Leaf as the rope went undone. "Nope. Not happening. It seems that this year, the hunters are gaining more ground. It is better to have you away from the area until it is all over. Who knows if more hunters will check up on this place later once they know that people are living here?" the green-headed man said. "You need to pack up and come with us. Get only the essentials. Don't worry about Gary. He knew that it was not the time to come back here."

It didn't take long before Leaf packed up her things and left the cottage. There was not much she needed to pack since most of the items are food-related. By the time Leaf was finished, it was already the middle of the night and there was nothing much left in the cottage. Even though Leaf also packed some of Gary's hems with her, it is not a lot. The cottage looked as if it was abandoned within a few hours.

The two men waited outside in the cold wind as Leaf packed. It was not that Leaf trusted them blindly. There was this instinct inside of her, telling her that she can trust the two men and that what they said was correct.

Once Leaf finished packing, she hugged her coat and walked out to the cold. Looking back at the place she called home for the past few weeks, she closed the entrance door. She doesn't know how long it will take before she will return or if she can even return.

"Sorry about that, by the way. We cannot get a horse now, since we didn't know how far we are from the rest of the people. There will be a snowstorm soon, so our footsteps will be gone by then. We have another partner with us at the deeper end of the forest where we will be riding out of here to the other side," the green-headed man said.

"I think we haven't been introduced to you yet. My name is Drew. This is my friend, Ash. We are friends of Gary. The other guy you will meet later is also a friend of Gary," the green-headed man, Drew, introduced himself.

"I am Leaf," Leaf replied as she walked through the thick forest with both men on each side.

"That is an interesting name. We will talk to you more about the situation when we get out of here. Who knows if there are any more of these hunters around," the dark-headed man, Ash, scolded.

"It is more dangerous here than you think," Drew added as they continued their journey in silence.

And so, three dark figures can be seen disappearing into the midst of the dark forest with only the hoot of the owls and the howls of the winds and wolves.
