"These people really don't know when to give up," Gary said to himself as he activated some other traps.

The group of people that entered the mansion was slowed down by the traps. Some had fallen, but it didn't stop them from breaking into every room in the mansion. Gary knew that it would take a while for them to find him, which gave him an advantage.

He watched as the people stormed the place. From a large group of people, there were only a few people left who were still trying to find the beast. Gary hid in the shadows when he heard the people getting closer to where he was. It would be hard for them to find the room, but he cannot stay in the room for long. It would be more advantageous for him if this room were never to be found, especially since it was the same room in which the beasts resided over the years. There were a lot of magic devices in the room as well as history.

Gary followed the group down the hallway after he had slipped away from the room through a secret passageway.

"Are we going to continue searching?" one man asked.

"Yes, we need to make sure that we check everywhere," another replied.

"They gave us information that the beast is here. It is either it left earlier or it was hiding somewhere. If it was not here, we would have to camp and wait until it returned," the third man commented.

"Why don't they come themselves? It was not like they don't have any hands," the first man mumbled.

"Easy for you to say. The princess orders it, and we follow. That is it. The villagers will not possibly come here especially since they are giving sacrifices here. No one would sympathize with them," the second man responded. "Let's keep our guards up."

The group of three slowly walked down the hallway. Gary looked out from his hiding space and took out his bow and arrow. He aimed his arrow at the limbs of one of the men and fired.

"Ahh!" one man cried out when he felt the pain of an arrow on his shoulder. He cried again when another arrow knocked him down and hit his legs.

"Follow him!" the second man commanded when they saw Gary dashed down the hallway before disappearing off into another place. They madly dashed down the hallway in an attempt to look for the man who had knocked down their comrade.

Gary looked behind the two men chasing after him before he continued to run and dodge. He needed to knock out one more person.

Leaf held the dagger in front of her, ready to attack as she walked into the mansion. All around her, she saw unconscious men from the group she saw earlier. As she walked, she noticed something from the pocket of an unconscious man. She walked closer and gently tugged on it. She looked at the paper and frowned.

If memory serves her right, she remembered the talk that the villagers discussed when she was with May and Dawn. It seemed that the nation's princess was a lunatic. The paper in her hands proved it. Why else would someone order for the capture of the beast?

If Leaf remembered it correctly, the current royal family wanted to make sure that the beast was dead. After all, they had been keeping up with a caring facade for generations since the beasts were the original royal family. They didn't want anyone to say that they usurped the throne. It seemed that after years, the people were on their side, and no one remembered that the beasts were the original rulers of the nation.

But it seemed that things were more complicated. The princess didn't want the beast to die. She didn't care if it was maimed or close to death. She just needed them alive. One can think of the many possibilities of what the princess was thinking.

Leaf shook her head. "It seemed that they are just getting more and more ballsy over time since the curse was getting worse with every generation," she said. She then lightly kicked the unconscious man before she walked up to higher levels of the mansion, keeping an ear out for what was happening.

"It seemed as if they were on a different level," Leaf thought as she closed up the cloak on her head to hide her face. Stealthy, she climbed up the stairs.

Up at the fourth floor of the mansion, Gary put his bow away and took out his daggers. He was standing by the windows. It was not his fault that one of the men was kicked out from the fourth-floor window and into the thorny rose vines below. The two men observed each other, but no one made any move.

"I was surprised when the princess personally asked us for your return. Now that I know, I shouldn't be surprised at all," the man said.

Gary narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean? What did the princess want?"

The man smirked. "That is something I don't know myself. The whole family is lunatic anyways. Let's end this, shall we? I will say that it is better if you die here than alive and captured by the princess."

"I am not going anywhere. She and her whole family are fakes anyway. Their hands are covered with impurity," Gary said.

"Whatever you said, prince. But I guess I won't be able to live as well. The princess doesn't trust us to begin with. I believe that her knights are coming over to finish the job themselves," the man said.

Then, the man launched forward with his sword. Gary noticed it and quickly blocked the hit.

"I would advise you to give up now," the man laughed.

Leaf was able to make it into the fighting scene and watched as the man tried to attack Gary from the side to push him out of the window like his comrade. She noticed an open space and surged forward to kick the man out.

The man was surprised at the attack. He didn't notice that there was someone else in the room. He looked at the red-cloaked figure as he fell out.

"Now, Gary. You have a lot to explain," Leaf said as she glared at Gary with an eyebrow raised.

Gary stood up from his position and laughed awkwardly.
