A small smile adorned Alaina's face as she traced small circles on Roddy's bare chest, his snores echoing in the quiet room.

It felt just right being with him. It almost made her forget that Evan was back in the hospital fighting for his life.

Keyword being almost.

She couldn't help but wish that he was okay. Then things would truly be perfect.

Suddenly, Roddy's phone buzzed and the screen lit up , indicating a new notification. Probably a text. Alaina would've thought nothing of it, if notifications hadn't been coming in every other minute for the past one hour now.

She quietly reached over and grabbed the phone to turn it off when the name on the screen caught her eye.

India.

Who the fuck was India?

India was most definitely the name of a female. Roddy had never mentioned any India. That was kinda weird.

She shook her head clear of all the suspicions and made to drop the phone when another text from India came in. She knew that she wasn't supposed to do what she was about to but she really wanted to satisfy her curiosity.

She quickly unlocked his phone, noting that his password remained unchanged after all this time, and went to his iMessage.

Then she clicked on India's contact.

India

when you gon' come over?
i miss you🥺

That was enough to make her shoot up from the bed. Roddy stirred a little but he didn't wake up. Alaina slowly and carefully got up so that he wouldn't wake up and make moved a few feet away from the bed.

Never had Roddy given her any reason to doubt him but what she was seeing right now wasn't making any sense.

The texts went back to a week ago and it made her wonder just when Roddy got out of jail. She was confused.

Apparently, according to the texts, he had been fucking around with India for more than two weeks now. It made no sense to her how he had been trying so hard to get back with her when he was involved with someone else.

She didn't even notice she was crying until the tears dropped down on the screen of his phone. It hurt a lot knowing that when he was telling her how much he loved her, he was saying the exact same thing to somebody else.

Then suddenly that sadness morphed into anger.

How could he come over here like everything was fine when he was a two-timing bitch?

The anger grew as she watched him sleep peacefully. It bothered her how he was sleeping without a care in the world when he knew what he was doing. She just wanted to hurt him. Maybe then she would make him feel what she felt.

Deciding that she couldn't take it anymore, she angrily threw his phone at his chest and that seemed to hurt him.

"Mane what the fuck?" He groaned, stirring awake.

"Who is India?"

"Whatchu talmbout?" He asked, rubbing the area of his chest where the phone had hit him.

"Don't play dumb wimme Rodrick. Who the fuck is India?" She repeated.

Maybe she was overreacting. Maybe it was all in her head. Maybe India was just a friend or a cousin. But a 'friend' could never talk about how she fantasized about you. Or how much she misses you.

This wasn't just all in her head.

Roddy was cheating.

That was it.

By that time, Roddy had already picked up his phone and had seen what she was talking about. He opened his mouth to say something but no words came out.

"What? Come on. Lie to me. Like you been doing for so long now" she spat, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I never lied to y-"

"Cut the bullshit Rodrick!" She cut him off, not wanting to hear anything he said. They were all just gonna be lies after all. That was what he did best. Lie.

"I can explain. I swe-"

"Ion wanna hear it" she shook her head. She walked towards the door and held it open.

"Leave" she said, picking up his shirt from the floor and tossing it at him.

"You serious right now?" He asked. How could she ask him to leave all of a sudden without letting him explain.

"Get the fuck out 'fore I do sum' I'll regret" she warned.

"Where the hell am I supposed to go?"

"Ion give a fuck. Go stay with India. She seems to want you to come over so badly" she snapped.

"It's not even what it looks li-"

"Get out Rodrick!" She yelled, startling him. "Just go. I don't even wanna look at you"

He knew she wasn't gonna listen to him no matter how hard he tried. He'd have to wait till she was calmer. And there was no way she was going to calm down when he was still there.

He knew he had to leave.

Alaina tried not to cry even more than she was already doing as she watched him get his things together. He stopped by the door to look at her one more time but she looked away, not wanting to make eye contact with him.

It was only when she had heard the front door open and close, only then did she let the sobs echo in the emptiness of the room.

She should've never started back fucking with him. She hould've never agreed to housesit for her mother. She should have never gone to The Bahamas with them. She should've just gotten on the first flight back to New York as soon as the wedding was over.

In all honesty, coming to California felt like one big mistake.

But things had already happened and she couldn't keep thinking about maybe's and should've's. All she could do now was pick up the pieces and move on with her life.

Easier said than done tho.
