Thirty Two - No one

"I loved you to the point of ruin. I loved you until my lungs were filled with ash"

...

"We can't tell anyone. Not even Cass or Eddie or any of them."

"Why not? They already think that I want to be with you"

Me and Draco were sat with our legs hanging off of the edge of the astronomy tower behind the railings. I had promised myself that I wouldn't let this happen. But I had fallen for him again. I can't help it - there is just something about him that makes me want to ignore all the bad in him.

"Yesterday. When Snape spoke to me" he said. My hand was interlocked with his as we stared out across the grounds. "He told me that I am forbidden to speak to you after I returned you to the common room"

"Why does he care?" I said to him.

"Because he claims you are a distraction". I turned to face him.

"Distraction?" I asked.

"You know. From the whole..." he paused and swallowed. "The whole you know who situation." He looked away from me and out onto the grounds.

"Has he... you know, given you anymore assignments?" I asked, dreading him telling me that he had been instructed to kill another.

"No. Just to stay here and help keep students in order," he assured me.

"I understand Draco". He turned to look me in the eyes. "Why you did what he said" he looked at me clearly still upset with himself. "If they had my mother and threatened to kill me..." he looked away from me. "I was just so angry Draco"

"I would be surprised if you weren't" he said.

I brought my other hand to the wrist of the hand I was holding. I gently unbuttoned the button around his wrist as he looked at me with uncertainty, his breath hitching slightly. I pulled the sleeve up his forearm, revealing the smokey mark that lay under his skin. I looked up at his face and he immediately turned away as if he couldn't stand to look me in the eyes. I lightly traced my finger over the mark - he shivered slightly as I did so.

"Did it hurt?" I asked him. He nodded his head slightly still not facing me. I brought my hand up to his face and moved it so that he was looking at me.

"Promise you will tell me. If anything happens, anything at all" the hand that was holding mine gripped it tighter. "If he gives you anymore jobs, if he wants you to do anything" He looked into my eyes and nodded.

"I swear"

"Then I forgive you". I pulled him in to kiss me and he placed his hand on my cheek cupping it, the sharp coldness of his rings pressing against my skin. I pulled away from him after a few moments. I put my hand into the collar of my school shirt and pulled out the floral charm of the necklace that was around my neck. "Cass asked me about it and I took it off. But I put it straight back on when she left". I placed the charm back into my shirt. "That's twice now I convinced myself I hated you when I didn't"

"And that's twice I've liked you when you hated me. Let's agree never again" he said with a smile. I let out a small laugh and pulled him in to kiss me again.

"Where the hell have you been?" Cass said to me.

It was half eight and I had told her I was going to be back for half seven. My detour with Draco kept me out longer and after spending a while on the top of the tower with him, we both knew we had to go back soon or people would suspect something. He had told me to meet him outside of potions after I had it as my last lesson tomorrow. He had walked me back to the common room quickly and thankfully we didn't encounter any staff. After he gave me a quick kiss goodbye, he left me to go back to his own dorm.

"Oh um, the Carrows came in and said I had to do an extra hour" I said to her, blurting out the first lie that came to my head.

"They can't do that, your not supposed to do more than what McGonagal says" Eddie said.

"Yeah well who's going to stop them?" I said back to him.

"Fair enough" he said. "How long do you have it for?"

"A week. Let's hope they don't pull that again" I said with the full intention of using that excuse to see Draco. It's not as if I can speak to him during school hours or in the halls. I would have to see him after hours when no one knows. "I'm tired, I'm gonna go up" I said.

"You've only just got here" Blaise said.

"And I'm tired" I said back to him. "I'm gonna read and I'll probably get an early night" I said to him.

"Alright. See you then"

I made my way up to my dorm, all the way there silently smiling to myself thinking about what had happened on the tower
