"Happy Birthday, sweet girl!" Elle and Heather exclaimed as they swung open their daughter's bedroom door.
"It's too early." Victoria yawned as she pulled her comforter over her head. Elle laughed loudly before tugging the comforter off of her daughter's head before ruffling her brown curls.
"It's seven, baby. It's time to get up and eat your birthday breakfast."
"Mama, make her stop." Victoria whined as she went to put a pillow over her head, but Elle stopped her once again.
"You know we can't stop her from doing anything. So get up and meet us in the kitchen in fifteen minutes. The pancakes will be done by then, and there will be gifts for you to open. Okay?" Heather smiled, and Victoria nodded weakly as her parents left the room.
Even if Victoria wasn't excited about her birthday, she was looking forward to pancakes and time with her moms. So she hesitantly crawled out of bed and sat on the edge of it until she heard Elle yell for her again.
"I'm coming, Mom!"

The first of many Happy Birthday's were sung, before everyone sat down and ate. After Victoria finished, her moms sat gifts in front of her and she started to open them.
"Thank you both so much for everything. I love you two a lot." Victoria smiled as she ran her fingers over the wood of her new violin. It had been the only instrument that she had managed to learn.
"We love you too, Tori. More than we can ever explain." Heather spoke softly as she looked at her only daughter. She stared at her for a while, and Victoria started to grow uncomfortable. She looked down at her hands before seeing as a large folder was pushed towards her.
"Mama? What's this?" Victoria asked, and Heather frowned as she stood and walked into the kitchen.
"Mom? What's happening? Why does Mama seem so upset?" Victoria asked rapidly, without even touching the folder. Whatever was inside seemed to make her Mama upset, and she didn't want to open it if it was such a big deal.
"You know you are adopted, right?" Elle spoke, and Victoria nodded.
"Yeah, I know that you and Mama adopted me. You adopted me from some young couple and took care of me because they couldn't. I am so thankful for you and Mama, because you two are the best parents I could ask for." Victoria replied since she was beyond confused.
Her mothers had been very open with her in regards to her being adopted. They didn't want her growing up and living a lie.
"Baby, we are so thankful for you and were blessed the day you came into our lives... but you are sixteen now. You are at the agreed age to find out more information about your biological parents. Who they are and stuff about their medical history." Elle explained.
"Oh." Victoria whispered.
"If you don't want to look at it right now, you don't have too. Mama and I can keep it for you or you can keep it in your room until you are ready. If you are ever ready." Elle spoke. Victoria nodded slowly before frowning.
"I-i'm going to my room... I can't deal with this at the moment."

Victoria spent the rest of the day spending time with her mothers, but it felt very awkward. Victoria didn't know that her adoption had been open. She thought that it had been closed and that her birth parents didn't want her. But clearly they wanted the adoption to be open so that they could get in contact with her. Or she could get in contact with them when she felt like she wanted to.
"Tori?" Heather breathed as she came in to check on her daughter.
"Hi, Mama." Victoria whispered from where she sat at the desk and stared at her adoption folder.
"Are you okay?" Heather asked, and Victoria nodded weakly.
"I think so. This is just overwhelming... Mama, do you know who they are? Like, what they do and stuff?"
"Honey, that is all in there. You-"
"But do you know, Mama? Like, did you meet them before you took me home? Did you and Mom know them before I was born?"
Heather let out a small sigh before walking over to her daughter's bed and settling down on the edge of it. She didn't like how curious her daughter was, but she didn't blame her. She had been adopted herself but never found her biological family because the adoption was closed and they left the country.
"We met your parents through the adoption agency. They had looked through tons of applications and picked me and your Mom out right away. They met up with us and they said that we were exactly who they were looking for."
"Did they name me?" Victoria sniffled as she turned around slowly and looked at her mother.
"No, Mom and I named you. Victoria after my mom, and Grace after your mother's mom."
"I know that, Mama. I just thought that they might have helped a bit... I just don't know what to do! If they gave me up, clearly they didn't want me then and I doubt they will want me now!" Victoria started to sob.
"Baby, they wanted you! Your biological parents made us leave because they didn't want to change their minds and break our hearts. They love you, and I could see it in their eyes when they kissed you goodbye." Heather exclaimed, as she quickly moved to her daughter and wrapped her arms around her body.
Victoria sobbed for about an hour, and Elle eventually joined them. They sank onto the floor and Victoria was held by the two most important people in her life.
Eventually, Victoria stood up and grabbed the folder. She sank back down onto the carpet before rubbing the tears from her cheeks.
"No matter who my biological parents are, you two are the only parents I want to be raised by... they probably have lives of their own and kids. They don't need me." Victoria breathed.
"They love you honey and I bet they think about you every single day."
"D-do you guys know why they gave me up? I never asked you that." Victoria sniffled.
Elle and Heather exchanged looks before nodding.
"Because your birth mother comes from a famous family and she didn't want everyone to find out that she got pregnant as a teenager. They kept everything super quiet, so you can't even find any information about you or her pregnancy with you online." Elle spoke softly.
