Victoria didn't know what to say when she found out her husband had gotten into an accident. Mariska was trying to explain everything to her daughter, but Victoria wasn't paying attention. She was just too busy worrying about Harvey when she told herself she'd never worry about him again.
"Tori?" Mariska breathed, when she realized her daughter wasn't paying attention at all. She moved to where Victoria stood before gently grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Is he alive?" Victoria whispered as she turned and locked eyes with her mother.
"He is alive, but not stable. The nurse says you should head down to Georgia to see him. To make medical decisions."
"I can't fly down to Georgia right now... driving might take too long. Mama, I don't know what to do." Victoria struggled to speak.
"You can fly if you need to. We can talk to your doctor and confirm, but you should be good for a flight that will only be a few hours at the most. Okay?"
"Mama, I'm scared." Victoria sniffled as tears burned her eyes.
"I know, Tori. But I'll go with you. Why don't you go pack a bag. I'll tell your father what is happening and have him book us two tickets. Okay?"
"Okay."

Mariska was beyond worried about her daughter on the flight down to Georgia. Victoria was numb and zoned out the entire way, only getting up once to use the bathroom. Even then, she came back with tears on her cheeks and bloodshot eyes.
"How much longer until we get to the hospital?" Victoria asked, as she sat in the passenger seat.
"About ten minutes." Mariska smiled softly.
"When we get there, I will find out what is happening. You can go back to the hotel and I'll meet you there later."
"I'm not letting you go through this alone." Mariska replied.
"If my husband dies, I'd like to be alone. I know I filed for divorce, but he's still my husband. I still care about him, even if I wish I didn't."
"Victoria Grace, you aren't doing this alone. I came down here to help you through this, and I plan on doing just that. You will just have to deal with your mother helping you out and holding your hand."
Upon arriving at the hospital, Victoria and Mariska had to avoid ambulances as they tried to navigate the parking lot and then find where they were supposed to go. Eventually, they were given a map of the hospital and a vague set of directions to make it to the ICU where Harvey was currently.
"This hospital is huge." Victoria grumbled.
"It is, but we should be there soon." Mariska spoke gently, as she reached out and gently rubbed her daughter's back.
As they finally reached the ICU, Victoria got nervous. She stood against the back of the elevator and didn't even move when the doors opened.
"Tori, this is our floor."
"Mama, I said some pretty nasty things to him. What if he dies, and we are still on horrible terms?"
"Harvey was an asshole to you, Victoria. He doesn't deserve to be on good terms with you. He probably doesn't deserve your concern, and he doesn't deserve to have you fly down here to be with him."
"I'm still getting a divorce from him, Mama. I'll never change my mind on that." Victoria spoke stubbornly.
"Good, because that is what I'd like to. You are better off without him, and so is Ruthie."
"Don't let me change my mind. Don't let him make me feel bad and change my mind about the divorce, okay?"
"I can do that, baby. Now, c'mon and get out. Before someone requests the elevator and we end up on the first floor again."

A doctor sat down with Victoria and Mariska once they arrived. He explained to Victoria that Harvey had run his car into a tree and he had several injuries that were very concerning. Once Victoria signed some paperwork, she moved down to Harvey's room. She had to build up some courage before entering, and to even stay in the hospital at all.
"Harv?" Victoria asked weakly, after she finally opened the door. Harvey was bruised, battered, and sleeping when she moved into his room.
"He has been sleeping on and off since he got out of surgery. When he is awake, he talks about you." A nurse spoke as she walked around Harvey's bed and checked his IV.
"He does?"
"Yeah, he does. Has your husband talked about being suicidal or having thoughts of ending his own life?" She questioned, and Victoria quickly looked up from Harvey and shook her head.
"We don't talk. I filed for divorce a while ago, and he still refuses to sign the papers. He said he wanted to talk first, so maybe this was his way of getting me down here. I shouldn't be here... I need to go home." Victoria frowned before turning and moving back to the door.
"Babe?" Harvey's weak voice sounded from behind her. Victoria hesitantly turned around before looking at her husband.
"Hey, Harv."
"You came." He smiled tiredly.
"Yeah, I came down here because I heard you might be dying. But now I'm thinking you did this on purpose to get me down here. Now, once you are feeling a little better, I need you to sign the divorce papers. If you don't, I will get my lawyer involved again and end this marriage as fast as possible."
"Baby, I didn't do this on purpose. Please, just stay with me. I feel better with you around." Harvey whimpered.
"I feel better being away from you. I don't feel as sick to my stomach, and I'm happy. So sign the damn papers, sign away your rights to our daughter, and leave me the hell alone."
"I don't want to sign away the rights to my daughter, Tori. Stay down here and we can raise her together. We can figure out a great name, make a beautiful nursery for her... and in a few years we can give her another sibling! Please, Victoria! Stay!" Harvey cried as he held his side.
Victoria walked over to his bed before giving him a soft smile.
"Our daughter is named Ruthie Grace Hermann. She will be raised in New York with the help of my parents, siblings, and best friend. If you want anything to do with her, then haul your ass up there. I will not be doing what you want me to do, because soon I will not even be your wife. I hope you don't die, Harvey. If you do, I guess stuff just happens like that sometimes."
