November 13th

Victoria stood on the front steps as Peter walked back to the car to talk to Heather and Elle. She couldn't hear what they were talking about, but eventually they all came up the path. Heather and Elle wrapped their daughter in a warm hug, before they parted and looked at her.

"So we are all going to go inside. Is that okay with you?" Heather asked, as Peter slipped past them and moved to the large front door.

"I wanted to be brave, but I'm still so scared... I really thought Peter was going to hate me and send me away." Victoria whispered.

"Sweet girl, you need to stop making up fake scenarios in your head... they are just making everything worse. And now we are going to go into the house and meet your mother. I guess she is super excited." Elle smiled as she reached out and caressed her daughter's hair.

"She's excited to meet me?" Victoria asked, as her eyes widened in shock.

"Kid, Mariska cannot wait to see you. Now, are you ready to go inside? It's kinda cold out." Peter spoke, and Victoria nodded hesitantly.

"Y-yeah."

The first thing Victoria saw was probably twenty different balloons scattered around the entrance and the adjoining living room. Peter smiled when he noticed Victoria's gaze.

"She loves to celebrate everything." Peter chuckled, and Victoria nodded slowly as she turned and looked over to one door. She bit her lip when she noticed Mariska standing in the doorway, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Hi." Victoria spoke softly, and Mariska didn't respond. She just continued to look at her daughter from a distance. She tried her best to figure out what exactly was her and what was Peter. She couldn't believe that this girl was sixteen, and that it had been sixteen years since the last time she saw her. Since she held her.

"Rish?" Peter asked, but his wife didn't even respond to him. He could tell that she was in her own world, so he approached her slowly before gently pushing her bangs away from her eyes.

"That's our baby?" Mariska asked her husband quietly.

"She's not a baby anymore, but yes. Even if she has changed, Heather and Elle really haven't so I know this is all really happening. We talked and they gave Victoria the adoption folder on her sixteenth birthday."

"That was two weeks ago, babe. Why is she just now here? Don't you think that if she really wanted to meet us, that she would have come on her birthday?" Mariska asked, as she looked back over at Victoria and her moms.

"Why don't you let her tell you why. Because she is here to meet us and you gotta at least try and talk to her. Okay?"

"Peter-"

"Rish, go. Please. If not for her, or yourself... do it for me."

Mariska sat across from Victoria in the living room. She didn't look directly at her, and didn't say a thing. From the moment she realized that this year was the year she might hear from her daughter, she had been excited. But now she was scared and anxious. She didn't want Victoria to hate her and not want anything to do with her.

"I-i love your show... my friend Emilee and I watch it all the time. You are amazing in it." Victoria spoke weakly as she tried to break the ice.

Mariska blinked a few times before nodding.

"T-thanks."

"Um, I heard your questions... about why I'm just now showing up." Victoria sighed since she felt like she was carrying the conversation and didn't know if she wanted to know her mother if she was going to be quiet and distant.

"I expected to get a call from you on your birthday. One that would have led us to getting to know you sooner... why did you wait till now? Is it because you don't like us? Or-"

"I was scared and still am. I knew that I was adopted, especially since I have two moms and I look like neither of them. And they have always been open and honest with me about how they adopted me from a couple that wasn't prepared to be parents. But they never told me who my biological parents were because they weren't allowed too. I didn't get a lot of time to prepare for this moment, because I didn't know when it would happen." Victoria sighed.

"Do you hate us for giving you up?" Mariska whispered, as she finally looked at her eldest child.

"No, I don't... but I hate that you kept your pregnancy with me a secret because you had a reputation to keep clean... it's like you were embarrassed of me and I hate that... but I don't hate you." Victoria sighed. She stood and walked over to the large fireplace.

She looked at the pictures that were resting on the mantel and looked at the three young kids that were her siblings. But she honestly didn't know if she'd ever meet them or grow into their actual older sister. They had the same blood running through their veins, but didn't have the same parents raise them.

"The little boy is-" Mariska started, but Victoria cut her off.

"He is Max, the second oldest is Cassandra, and the baby of the family is Harriet... Emilee and I googled you because your names sounded familiar, but I couldn't exactly pinpoint them." Victoria said as she turned around slowly and looked at Mariska.

Mariska stood and moved over to her daughter before gently grabbing her hand. She squeezed it for a moment before dropping it and grabbing a frame with her and Peter's wedding picture in it.

"You looked stunning..." Victoria spoke with wide eyes.

"Thanks... but this isn't the picture I want to show you." Mariska replied slowly before taking the back off the frame. She pulled a glossy piece of paper from it before passing it to her daughter.

"Who's this?" Victoria asked, as she looked at the baby picture.

"That's you, Victoria... and just know that I wanted you so freaking bad, but we couldn't keep you. I didn't want you to be treated badly if people found out. Peter and I wanted to make sure you were safe, and we found the perfect family for you. We loved you from the start and haven't stopped."

"So uh... where do we go from here?" Victoria asked softly.

"Honestly, I have no idea. I guess we have a lot to think and talk about."
