Heather and Elle didn't want Victoria to be in any contact with Mariska and Peter, so they decided that she wouldn't be allowed to see them until after she turned eighteen. Victoria didn't fight them on that decision, and she never did tell them that her birth parents had already decided to not see her for a while.

Victoria focused on finishing school and repairing her relationship with her moms and Emilee, while Mariska and Peter continued to live their lives before Victoria found them. It was hard, but it was much needed. They needed space, and everyone needed a chance to mature and really accept the future situation.

"So what are we going to do?" Emilee asked, as she and Victoria walked towards their apartment. After graduation, Emilee and Victoria were both accepted into Columbia University.

"What do you mean? We are going to eat pizza and watch a few movies." Victoria replied. Emilee sighed as she stopped her friend before turning and looking at her.

"You are eighteen, Tori. That means that you can officially contact Mariska and Peter without the permission of your moms." Emilee sighed.

Victoria nodded slowly as she looped her arm through Emilee's so they could continue towards their apartment.

"So? I'm not going to do that." Victoria mumbled.

"What? Why not? You have been looking forward to seeing them again since we graduated! You knew that as soon as you turned-"

"Emilee, I know what turning eighteen means. But it isn't going to change the fact that they didn't want to see me for two years. They seem to be really happy, and I don't want to mess that up. So for right now, and probably forever... I'm not going to be in contact with them. Okay? Please accept that."

"But-" Emilee started, but once again Victoria shut her down.

"Shut up about this all."

The next morning, Victoria left the apartment before Emilee even woke up. She walked to campus and went to her first class, before heading to sit under her favorite tree and study for a test. She was just starting to open her textbook when someone blocked the sun.

"Hello?" Victoria asked as she looked up and sighed.

"Emilee said that you'd be here."

"Mariska? Sorry... the sun made it kinda hard to see who you were. Uh, what are you doing here?" Victoria breathed.

"Emilee and I have been talking a bit. We have been trying to plan something out to bring us back together, and she's been updating me about you... Peter doesn't know that we have been talking, but I couldn't go two years without knowing if you are okay."

"I'm fine, Mariska. There was no need to worry."

"I'm your... you are my kid. I worry about you just as much as I worry about the other three."

"Okay, uh... I have to study for a test. So if you wouldn't mind excusing me." Victoria breathed nervously.

"Tori, please. Can we talk for a bit? Like before or after your test?" Mariska questioned, her voice shaking a bit. She was confused and a little upset with how Victoria was responding to her. How she wasn't excited or happy to see her.

"I don't know." Victoria frowned as she kept her eyes focused on her book.

"Please, baby. Just a few minutes to get caught up. To maybe plan a dinner so you can see your father and siblings." Mariska begged. Victoria sighed softly before unlocking her phone and looking at her schedule for the week.
