I'm sorry but this song is just....so true. It so accurate to alot of my feelings and has amazing lyrics and a bomber beat.

But, it also applies to this chapter and the characters.
You'll see what I mean.

Enjoy...

Sage's POV

After taking off we must have flew for 12 hours, maybe more. Every time we thought we saw an island, it disappeared from sight when we got closer. Viserion was exhausted, the flaps of his powerful, broad wings getting slower and more time in between in each one. The rest of us were sore, yet numb at the same time.

Lance curled up in between V's shoulder blades, trusting him not to let him fall, and fell asleep only a few minutes after takeoff. He was tired after his escapade with that shapeshifting monkey. He went through a lot. He saw his entire, tragic past laid before him. And even though he tried to turn himself off, tried to cut off his emotions, he pulled through it. I'm proud of him.

Ren fell asleep a few hours after we started flying. He didn't have a reason, he just climbed in between Lance's curled up knees and his stomach, and feel asleep. Hey, I didn't blame him. That's as good of a blanket as anything up here.

I didn't want to sleep. I felt...guilty. I'm the leader. It's my responsibility to keep everyone safe. Yet I was stupid and did exactly what that monkey wanted me to do. I played right into its paws. If it wasn't for Lance's bravery and pure self control we would all be dead. And its my fault...

They all could have died. A voice told me. Ever since I got into Eladea this voice had been pestering me, poking and prodding. You failed them. Worthless.

I squeeze my eyes closed and shake my head, trying to rid my head of the voice I had become so familiar with. I'm guessing V mistook this action as an effort to stay awake.

"Hey, Sage, you don't have to stay up. You can go to sleep. I don't mind." He says, glancing back. His voice is low despite only talking in my head. Its gravely and sharp, dragged out, showing the exhaustion he was feeling in his muscles, in his voice.

We started flying at high sun, noon, but now the moon was high in the sky, midnight. The large white orb, smiling down on us, reflecting off the shining water to light our path. I scoot forward, so I'm seated at the base of his neck, my legs dangling off his shoulders. I reach forward and rest a hand almost to his ear. Only the sounds of the flowing waves down below and the steady beat of his wings fill the air.

"No. I want to stay up with you. I'll keep you company." I say with a smile. He looked back and gives me a beautiful dragon smile.

I sit back up as he looks back forward. I put one of my hands on one of his spikes in front of my, holding it in my palm. I rest my other one on his scaly skin, rubbing it in small circles.

"Sage?" He asks after a few moments of silence.

"Hm?" I hum in acknowledgment.

"I know you say your horrible at this but...tell me a story?" He asks sheepishly, obviously embarrassed. I smile fondly at his toddler like behavior.

Normally I wouldn't tell stories, I don't think I do it well, but since our two drama queens are asleep, I guess I will have to do. I take a deep breathe, ready to begin.
