Hey so the song is really ment for the end of the chapter. You'll know what I mean. Okay I'm gonna start the chapter now. It's back to Sage's POV btw

I couldn't get what happened with Lance off my mind.

He had been frustrated, I got that. But at one point it was like his eyes glazed over and he wasn't there anymore. He was physically there for sure, but his mind was elsewhere. I don't know what he saw but he thought he was in danger, that was obvious.

I didn't know too much of Lance's past and home life, but knew he lost his dad, who was like a second father to me, then his sister disappeared and his mom was an abusive alcoholic. I know he was terrified of his mother. Maybe it had something to do with her?

But he had been in a bad mood the rest of the night. He had gone to bed early. Though we all knew he wasn't really asleep.

Me, Renate and Viserion didn't speak for the rest of the night. We knew something happened and Lance just needed to be alone.

But this morning he was his usual dorky, annoying self. I hope he's okay.

I mean, not that I really care or anything,  I just need him in perfect health if we are to actually succeed in our mission and his training.

We were packing up the minimal supplies we had and putting them on V's back. He had become way more accustom to having us on his back.

We got on him. This time Lance was in front, Ren at his usual spot on Viserion's head.

Lance looks back at me, his signature smirk on his face. I really don't like that smirk. "You ready green girl?"

"Number one, stop calling me that. And number two, the question is, are you ready, Griffin?" I retort back.

His smirk turns into a smile, and he ruffles up his black hair, grey eyes glinting with amusement. "Always."

In the back of my mind I hear V laughing and I see Ren obviously trying to hold back his own. I shake my head at the two.

V spreads his wings, crouches down slightly and pushes off the ground with his powerful legs and we shoot up into the sky.

I sit there comfortable, holding on to a spike that separated me and Lance with one hand. Brown hair whipping around my head in the wind. Lance on the other hand was basically clinging onto V's neck for dear life.

Once we get up to altitude we level out and Viserion let's us drop slightly before he starts flapping his powerful wings.

Lance is still clinging onto V's neck even though we were at cruising speed now.

"Always ready, huh?" I tell him, leaning forward slightly.

"Oh shut up green girl. You know I have a fear of heights." He says back, slowly sitting up.

"Oh comon, you don't trust me?" V says, turning his head slightly so he could look back at us.

"I mean, I did just meet you." Lance says.

"Ouch." Ren says with a chuckle, shaking his pirate hat covered head.

V gasps dramatically, "Wow. I thought we were closer than that Lance. You are so hurtful." He says, exaggerated.

We all laugh break out laughing. This was how most of the trip went. Who knew I could become this good of friends with a talking rat and dragon in such a short time? The other human was alright I guess.
