Lance's POV

What happened?

Why am I on the ground?

I cant see. It's just black.

I can't hear. Its silent.

Where is Sage? Ren? V? I'm scared.

I cant breath. I'm choking. Wait...no. I can breath. Come on Lance, in, out, in out. There we go. That's better.

Wait a second, I can see! Its blurry though. And dark. Theres two people. I cant see faces, I can barely make out colors. Everything's dark. Is it night? Yes, I recall this. It was night when...when something happened. One of the people just ran away. The other one is turning towards me. My vision clears slightly. Now I can hear a little, though it sounds like I'm underwater.

Speech. That's what I hear. It's almost a whisper, but it's broken up by something...what is that? Crying. The person's crying. I cant make out what they are saying, though the voice sounds familiar. My visions clears a little more. I can see more details. Brown hair, green eyes...wait. Sage? Yes. That's her. It has to be.I can start making out what she's saying as my hearing becomes clearer.

"No no no no no no." That's all she's saying. Over and over. She stands there, frozen. What's going on? I try to get up, but suddenly a piercing pain shoots up my whole body. I let out a strangled gasp, the pain surprising me. Sage's eyes go wide and she rushes towards me.

I wince as she picks up my head, placing it in her lap. What's happening? Why does my stomach hurt so dam much?

"Lance why..." Sage whispers under her breath. Why is she crying? No, dont cry! Please. I hate it when you cry. Why cant I talk? Talk to her! Work voice! Work goddam it!

I need to figure out what's happening. I try to pick up my hand, finding it way heavier than I remember. I move it towards the source of my pain, it moving at a maddening slow pace. I finally drop my hand at the origin, letting out a small gasp as another excruciating pain shoots through my body. I feel...wet. And warm. Its sticky as well. Its running down my sides, from my stomach.

Oh...I remember now.

Griselda...Sage...the fight.

Griselda almost killed her. It was almost there. But I jumped...

Griselda's sword never hit Sage. But it hit something else.

It hit me.

I take a deep breath, letting it out slowly, the shaky air deafening in the silent canyon.

"Lance why...Lance why would you..." Sage cant even bring herself to finish the sentence. A warm tear falls from her cheek to mine. I try to smile, but it comes off as more of a wince.

"Beca-" blood fills my mouth, making me sputter for a second before trying to continue. "Because you need to...to go on. I...I dont." I rasp out. That gravelly, empty voice cant be mine, can it?
