Sarah sobbed, her back arched as more pain shot through it. Clark looked up,  he knew what had to be done but he needed to leave her for a short time.
"I'll be right back. Clark your the strongest sit with her, I need to do something."
"Ok."
Clark rushed outside and pulled the scale from his pocket. He rubbed it a few times and waited, he thought he saw something in the darkness.
"What is it you need Kryptonian?"
"Help her." Clark said almost sounding lost.
"I would first need to know what is wrong."
"She has wings, very large wings."
"Then if that is the case you might want to remove her from the house." "Why?"
"Because if her wings have come the rest will follow unless I can get the change stopped."
"How?"
"I have my ways, bring her out here."
Clark rushed inside and brought back out Sarah. He lay her gently on the grass and looked up. Matthias looked down at his child and then leaned down and touched her face and her back, he spoke a strange language as his hands began to glow, and then so did Sarah the wings began to disappear and she started to calm. He moved his hand off her back but never moved it from her face.
"I am so sorry for this my daughter, it was never supposed to be like this. From this time on I will be nothing more than a dream."
Sarah raised her eyes to look upon the man before her eyes rolled back and she passed out. Clark dropped down next to her, and then looked up at Matthias.
"She will be fine,  the wound in her throat will be slow to heal, Jacob used a special metal that causes our kind more damage but being half elf she will heal. Take good care of her. You now have your way home. Be sure to use it, she needs to go back to what she feels is her safe place even if these kind people have shown her all the love she would need."
"I will, thank you."
"You have a precious gift, my kind does not take lightly to someone beyond our own kind marrying but her mother and I were proof that hearts never listen to that. Goodbye." He said disappearing as quickly as he had appeared. Clark lifted Sarah into his arms and headed back into the house,
"We know you will be going home soon."
"Yes, we have to, this isn't our home."
"We understand. But always remember you have a family here as well."
"Thank you. But for now I am going to let her rest. She has been through allot." Clark said looking at the woman he loved he held in his arms.
"Take her to Clark's room, she can rest there. Everyone get some sleep I am betting tomorrow is going to be a long day." Johnathan told them. Clark carried Sarah's unconscious form up the stairs and into Clark's bedroom, he lay her on the bed and then lay down next to her. He vowed to protect her with his own life and now she had almost died three times since getting here. Maybe he had failed her, did he truly deserve her.
"Yes, if your wondering if you deserve her it's Yes. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone will stumble and fall but that is where you learn and grow. Always remember that, now get some  rest."  Martha told him, Clark nodded and climbed into the bed next to Sarah.

The following morning Clark sat on the edge of the bed, the sun was barely up but he was awake. Clark smiled when he felt her arms wrap around his waist.
"What are you thinking?" She asked her voice still just above a whisper.
"I could have lost you, and I was powerless to stop it. Both of us were powerless to stop it. I watched as he slit your throat and thought in that moment I had lost you."
"But I am here. Neither of you lost me, you both know how to combine your gifts and the help of a stranger I am here and alive."
"We can go home."
"What?"
"I was given a way to get us home.  We are going home today,  are you sure your awake enough to join me downstairs?"
"Yes." She said sliding from the bed and taking his hand. They walked down the stairs to find Clark Martha and Johnathan all waiting.
"We had a feeling you would leave this morning." Johnathan said looking at them both.
"We have a home we need to return to."
"We know. We wanted to be here to see you off. And say if you are ever able to return, please come we would love to see you. "
"I might take you up on that,  I would love to see how Clark continues his journey."
"Thank you." Young Clark said a slight blush coming to his cheeks. They all stepped outside as Clark rubbed the scale and thought of home, a portal approach and Sarah could see their city. She gave hugs to everyone and kissed young Clark on the cheek.
"Goodbye." She softly spoke. Sarah took Clark's hand and they walked through the portal and disappeared.
