just finishing football practice, the football team was all sweaty and chilling on the bleachers to recharge while the cheerleaders were ogling over them. "are you stupid? why would you choose changkyun over sinb? she's so fine!" the squad's best flyer━yuju━swooned, watching sinb lick her lips as she caught her breath. "yeah... isn't she." eunseo muttered, checking out sinb alongside yuju. "but it's only because he's easy. i can get whatever i want from him. she's too hard to keep on a leash."

"please, i love a little challenge every once in a while." yuju said and tucked her hair behind her ear, giving sinb a wave when she looked their way. with a smirk, sinb winked at yuju while completely ignoring eunseo before heading back into school. yuju was a squealing, googoo eyed mess and eunseo was nothing short of envious though she was the unloyal one. "stop creeping on the fb captain and come practice. we open for their game. if we look bad, they look bad." one of the other cheerleaders said and rolled her eyes.

eunseo snapped herself out of it. "yeah, sorry... come on, girls. from the top!"

during dismissal, yerin ran into sinb and eunha as they were leaving. "hey, ducky. riding with us?" sinb asked, her arm around eunha's shoulder. yerin pursed her lips and shook her head, keeping her eyes on the floor. "who's taking you home?" sinb questioned. "i'm walking." yerin lied because she knew sinb wouldn't approve of who was actually taking her home. "oh, okay. gimme your phone then." sinb stepped closer to yerin and reached into her pocket. this startled yerin and she started to stumble backwards.

sinb laughed and caught yerin, holding her close. "falling for me already, rinnie?" sinb asked teasingly. yerin bit her bottom lip and blushed, keeping her eyes on the floor. "passcode?" "huh?" "what's the passcode, goofy?" sinb asked, holding yerin's phone. "zero, nine, one, six." yerin mumbled. "the day we met. cute." sinb said to herself, adding her contact to yerin's phone and handing it back. "call me if you need a ride or if you just miss me." sinb said playfully and pat yerin's cheek before walking off with eunha. yerin was dumbfounded, standing there with the reddest face ever. a tap on her shoulder pulled her back to reality.

"hi! just making sure you're okay. you're kind of just standing in the middle of campus. and it's supposed to rain soon so you should get home." umji pointed out with a friendly smile. "oh, sorry... i'm fine. thank you. i'll get going." yerin bowed to umji before going to find sowon. "hey, junior!" sowon yelled out, waving yerin over to her car. "sinb was flirting with you a bit, huh? that's a new one." sowon said, patting yerin's head. yerin blushed slightly, trying to get in the backseat.

"come sit up here. you're not five." sowon said, opening the passenger side for yerin. yerin's face heated up and she nodded, closing the door and getting in the front seat. "so why were you sitting with literally everyone sinb hates?" sowon asked with a short laugh. yerin bit her bottom lip, shaking her head. "i didn't know..." yerin muttered. "she fought changkyun, got cheated on by eunseo and hates eunwoo for treating you like an animal." sowon paused for a moment and shook her head.

"please just try to stay away from them. i don't even like sinb but those people you're associating yourself with are two faced and scandalous. they'll use you and dump you once they're finished." yerin pursed her lips and nodded. "okay..." "if you need someone to hang out with, just let me know and we'll be the best of friends!" sowon said, ruffling yerin's hair. yerin gave a small smile and nodded. "also i don't know where you live so i've kinda just been driving around..." sowon admitted, making yerin laugh.

"wow, look at that smile. no wonder sinb wants to keep it all to herself." sowon said, nudging yerin's shoulder. "but seriously, need your address." yerin gave sowon her address and halfway through the drive, just as umji said, it started raining, hard. yerin rode the whole way with talkative sowon. "this one." yerin said and pointed at her house, noticing a strange car in the driveway. sowon accidentally drove past it so she stopped and backed up to the house. "thank you for the ride." yerin said, giving a small smile and getting out of the car. "of course, junior. see you at school." sowon said, driving off.

yerin held her bag above her head and ran to her door. yerin knocked on her door but was shocked to see a strange woman open it. "yejoon, i think it's for you!" the woman called. yerin's father came to the door and grimaced. "um, you can't be here today." he said, peeking back at the woman. "w-what? where am i supposed to go?" yerin asked, starting to shiver. "not my problem. i have things to do." with that, he said and closed the door on yerin's face. yerin started hyperventilating and crying as she didn't have anywhere else to go and it was pouring rain.

yerin ran to the place she went to whenever she had nowhere else to go: her mother's grave. yerin kneeled in the wet grass as tears ran down her face. "mom... why did you leave me with him? i miss you so much and everyday gets harder without you..." yerin sighed. "i wish you were still here." yerin got back to her feet and kissed her mother's headstone. "bye, mom. rest well." she said before finding a dry place to cry in for a while.

once yerin was able to stop her unconditional crying, she called sinb. "hwang speaking." yerin opened her mouth to talk but shivers ran up her spine and she repeatedly sucked in air. "c-can you come pick me up?" "where are you?" "down the street from my h-house." yerin heard sinb sigh before replying. "on my way." yerin pulled her knees to her chest to refrain from getting any wetter than she was and sniffled as the cold air blew in her face. yerin had her head buried in her knees to fight the cold and didn't notice sinb's car.

yerin didn't look up until she felt a coat being wrapped around her. as soon as yerin saw sinb, she hugged her tightly and started sobbing.
