Out of My League (Tzukook Fanfic)

Christmas Eve

Wrapping the gift carefully, Tzuyu ties a ribbon around it. She knows what's inside the wrapper is more important but she wants the gift to look presentable and nice, afterall it will be the first Christmas gift Jungkook will receive from her.

She and Dahyun had shopped for Christmas gifts earlier. She had given it a lot of thought on what she would give Jungkook. She wants it to be memorable and at the same time useful to him. So she chose a training journal, wherein Jungkook could write down his learnings and experiences.

Placing the gift inside her bag, Tzuyu quickly checked the time. Seeing it was almost time for their date, she changed her clothes and fixed her hair. Hearing the doorbell ring, she hastens her movements and runs down the stairs. She saw her parents enteratining Jungkook on their living room.

Jungkook goes still when he finally sees Tzuyu. It had felt so long since he last saw Tzuyu in person. They had been conversing with each other thru calls and texts but it can't compare to seeing her in person. He really missed her presence during this vacation.

Tzuyu could feel euphoria seeping in her bones at finally seeing Jungkook after many days of not seeing each other. She has to fight the urge to run up to him and hug him.

Her mother seeing that the two became speechless decided to intervene. "You kids go out now and have fun. Jungkook take care of Tzuyu and bring her back here before midnight."

Shaming out of his stupor, Jungkook nods at her mother's orders. He goes to Tzuyu's side and offers his hand. "Let's go."

Tzuyu takes his hand and waves her hand goodbye to her parents. Walking out of the front door, Jungkook suddenly stops and puts a baseball cap on Tzuyu's head.

"There will be a lot of people tonight so wear this," Jungkook says adjusting the cap on Tzuyu's head.

Tzuyu nods understanding Jungkook's concerns. It's Christmas Eve and a lot of people are probably doing last minute buying or merely strolling around. And she might attract a crowd around her like what happened before.

It sure was packed at the plaza. A lot of family were walking around, there were even couples like them who were having a date. Normally Tzuyu would feel a bit nervous with this many people around her but since she's with Jungkook she feels safer. Jungkook hasn't let go of her hand the whole time, he even held it tighter as if he's afraid to lose her in the crowd.

It was the first time for Jungkook to be outside during Christmas Eve. He was told by his mother that it would be very crowded during this time and had also told him to be more careful of Tzuyu. So he had brought a cap for Tzuyu to wear to avoid her attracting too much attention.

Walking around the plaza, they had checked out the Christams decorations that had been placed. They also managed to take some pictures as commemoration of their first Christmas together.

They decided to have dinner at a diner nearby. While waiting for their bill to be sorted out, Tzuyu grabs this chance and takes out her gift for him. "For you," she shyly says.

Jungkook takes the gift and sees the beautiful wrapping. He suddenly feels ashamed of how he wrapped his gift for her. Looking back at Tzuyu's hopeful eyes, he carefully opens the present. His eyes widen at her gift. His coach has always told him before that in order to become better at karate, he must also have a journal to write his shortcomings and his learnings so he can review and improve his moves. He can't believe that Tzuyu has gotten him a present he truly needs.

He beams at her, "Thank you," he reaches for hand and squeezes it, "Really thank you. I love this gift."

Tzuyu blushes, feeling satisfied and proud of herself for choosing that gift. She feels happy that her gift had been well accepted by him, she felt a bit nervous when buying the gift thinking that Jungkook might not like it.

Jungkook withdraws his hand and reaches out inside his bag to take out his gift for her. "Here, it's not much but I hope you'll like it."

Tzuyu grabs the gift and takes a moment to admire the wrapping. The wrapping doesn't look as good as her gift to him but she knows that Jungkook had carefully wrapped this with thoughts of her. Tearing carefully the wrapper, she sees a baking cookbook. She looks up at him in surprise.

Jungkook feels a bit flustered at her surprised look. "I noticed that you really like breads and I heard from some of your classmates that you like baking the most during home economics."

Tzuyu smiles at him, "Thank you for the gift, I will use it well. Maybe someday I can bake for you using this cookbook."

"Then I'll be waiting."

After settling their bill, they left the diner and walked back towards Tzuyu's home. Both of them feeling happy that they got to spend their first Christmas together like this.

Christmas Day

Chaeyoung excitedly gives her gifts to her friends as they all sat in a booth at a restaurant.

"I personally made this keychains for you guys," she says and she also raises up her own keychain, "It's like a friendship keychain, it matches with everyone."

They all looked at her in awe, the keychain was really well made. "Thank you so much Chaeyoung," Jimin says.

"Thank you."

"Good job Chaeyoung for making this."

"I will use this well."

Jimin pulls something out of his bag and gives it to everyone. "I figured that we all need something to cheer as up so I tried to win this stuffed toys for us."

He hands out a puppy plushie to Tzuyu, an eagle plushie for Dahyun, a lion plushie to Chaeyoung, a rabbit plushie to Jungkook and a chick plushie for himself.

"Oh this is so cute," Chaeyoung gushes.

Dahyun smiles and pats the eagle plushie fondly. She then hands over her gifts to them. She gave them each a mechanical pencil. "I bought this so we can all take down notes better and a certain someone won't have to borrow my pencils every now and then."

Jimin gasps at the jab at him, "I don't borrow your pencils often."

"Yes, you do."

Jimin glares at Dahyun. Chaeyoung noticing that the two about to start a fight, quickly intervenes. "This is a nice gift Dahyun, thank you."

Tzuyu gives them her gift and hands out pencil cases. "Oh, matching pencil cases, we think alike Tzuyu," Chaeyoung says.

Jimin laughs, "You girls do think alike. Chaeyoung and Tzuyu both give matching items and Dahyun and Tzuyu both gave something to use at school."

Tzuyu smiles shyly. It is true she tried to match her gifts because she wants the five of them to have a matching item.

"Well Tzuyu and I have shopped for gifts together," Dahyun explains.

"And I asked Tzuyu if matching items would be good and she said yes," Chaeyoung adds.

Seeing that it was finally his turn to give gifts, Jungkook shows them his gifts.

"Books?" Jimin stares at the gifts wide eyed.

Right in front of them are not just books, but school books. "I just thought that we could all use this together and study," Jungkook shyly explains.

"Well that was a nice idea Jungkook," Dahyun says.

Chaeyoung looks at the books thoughtfully, "Maybe my grades will be higher with the help of this."

They all laughed at Chaeyoung's serious comment. "Maybe it will," Dahyun teases.

After exchanging presents, the five of them started eating and having small talk about what they did in the past few days. They simply enjoyed spending time together outside of school.
