"Wake up kitten. We need to move." I was shaken awake by strong but gentle hands.

"Ok ok I'm up." I said leaping up to grab my bags.

Lane grabbed another bad that I figure he made up while I was asleep.

"You ready?" He asked while cracking the door open enough to get through.

"Yeah." I walked over and grabbed his hand.

"On three." He squeezed my hand gently.

"One." I readjusted my bag on my back.

"Two." He got into a running stance.

"THREE!" we both sprang from the car.

The forest line is about thirty yards away. We hear yelling behind us and kick up the speed.

Twenty more yards. There's gunshots and dirt and grass fly around.

Ten more yards. Pain explodes in my calf an I fall. I muffle a cry by gritting my teeth and stand.

Lane swoops me up and starts running. We finally make it through the tree line. There is still shouting behind us and gunshots.

I was confident even with the burning hole in my calf until I heard the howl. We'll never out run wolves. Especially with lane carting me around.

"Lane! Get in the trees!" I yell after looking back at the crowd of black wolves catching up.

He flung me onto his back and lept into the nearest tree. Clinging onto him he kept from tree to tree with amazing speed.

After an hour I couldn't hear the barks and howls. Lane was panting so we stopped to rest.

"My little alley-cat, are you all right?" He said checking for more than one bullet. He looked at my calf.

"This looks ok. But I have to take the bullet out for it to heel properly." He said gently prodding my leg.

"Ok. Take it out right now." I replied looking at the bloody wound.

Taking out the first aide kit he carefully took the bullet out. It hurt like he was taking a knife and twisting it in my calf. When he was done he cleaned it and wrapped it.

"We need to move." He stated picking me up again.

After another three hours we decided to stop for the night.

"Lane?" I asked poking his cheek to get his attention.

"Yes love?" He asked grabbing my hand and holding it.

"Tell me about yourself. What do you like? What do you dislike? Stuff like that." I asked putting my other hand over his.

"Well, I like the color blue. My favorite thing to do is cuddle up with a warm blanket and a book by a fire. My favorite food is steak and I love ballroom dancing. Now tell me about yourself." He said.

"Um, I like the color black. My favorite thing to do is to climb a tree and watch the sunrise. My favorite food is cookies and I love playing games with my siblings." I said sitting into a nook in the tree we were in. He sat down with me and I cuddled into his side.

"Tell me about your family." He said rubbing the back of my hand with his.

"I'm the oldest of five. Two sisters and two brothers. My father is dead but my mom is alive. There is Brianna, Kristianna, Jacob, and Nicholas. I miss them a lot." I said trying not to cry.

"Don't worry we'll find them." He said.

"I hope so." I replied solemnly. We both fell asleep listening to the crickets chirp inning and the leaves swaying.

I awoke before lane. He looked so peaceful and beautiful when he slept. His hair was in his eyes and he was snoring a little. Digging in the bag I got some nuts and tossed a bag on his chest. He woke up immediately and almost fell out of the tree.

"What was that for?" He asked opening his nuts and began eating. I shrugged and continued with mine.

"I recognize these woods, I was here before." He looks up with interest.

"We'll then let's find your family. We walk hand in hand sometimes in the trees and sometimes on the ground. It was nice to just walk in silence. As the time went on I saw more and more that looked familiar. After a couple of brakes I found something interesting.

Picking it up I rolled it in my fingers. It was a button. It looked so familiar, like it was made just for me. It was a wooden coin with vine like carvings on it. It was probably made of ash. Stuffing it in my pocket I walked on.

The sun was setting and we were both tired. Dropping my backpack I slumped down to lay on the ground with my head on my bag. Lane followed my example and we fell asleep almost instantly.
