Battle Chapter 28

"It's time." Shane said and left.

Lane paled and hugged me close. We're both scared. I'm scared because I have to fight Shane and lanes scared because I have to fight shane.

Me and lane put on our battle gear.We meet up with Angelique and go to the field behind the pack house.

There are soldiers lined up in neat lines and standing at attention to shane.

"Welcome soldiers. Today is a great day for us. We shall finally defeat the scum that it zane. We will wipe away his followers and bring a new era of strength and courage. Zane's pack is weak and can't survive the new world. But we can. We can not only survive but thrive. Are you ready?!?!?!??!!!!!" He called.

The soldiers started whooping and whistling. Shane roared and shifted into a dark gray wolf. The wolf soldiers shifted as well. Shane started leading the way to Zane's territory.

I race to the front line and run with them. Ill need to be near Shane when the attack starts.

Lane is next to me and we run the next couple of hours together.

We're at the edge on Zane's territory. Shane is just about to step over the territory line but Zane's army stepped out of the shadows. Shane's face turns purple with rage and he turns to me. "You did this." He growled. Everyone was silent. This is it. In front of both silent armies I shall fight to the death. "No I did." Crackled a voice. Angelique stepped forward toward her mate. "Of course Allie played a huge part in it but I played her as well." Angelique changed forms and what stood before me is indescribable. Her form is pitch black an has the consistory of tar. The smell made me gag and I see several people puking. The rows of sharp teeth are yellowed and some are black. This is the demon. It wasn't Shane at all. It was Angelique. And I trusted her. I felt my heart break and I stifled a sob. This is no time to be weak. "My baby. What did you do to yourself." Shane cried falling to his knees. "I am not your baby. I am Victoria! Queen of all the demons. And I shall be your queen as well!" She cried raising a clawed hand and striking down shane. His eyes grew blank and his blood covered the ground. "YOU WILL NEVER BE OUT QUEEN!" I cried taking a step forward. "Oh I will be. Eventually. Even if you defeat me ill come back. Again and again and again. In the thousands of years, nobody has ever figured out the way to break the cycle. Not even I know." She laughed shooting fire at me. Rolling to the side I figured it out. The prophecy. I've never understood it but now I do. This whole cycle is based around either sacrifice or selfishness.

Strong and powerful the chosen stand.

Fights the demon hand to hand.

But there's a choice to be made.

To run away or to aide.

To make this choice you can't have shame.

By your own hand you must maim.

If you do the strings will break.

The world of demons will shake.

The choice is sacrifice. In the past the chosen have ran away. They didn't want to die. But who will have the courage. I can have the courage. But what about what the wolves have done to me. Can I forget and forgive. Yes, I must.

Victoria swept her huge clawed hand toward my head but I duck.

I understand what I must do. Me living is the strings keeping Victoria in this world. If I die. The strings will break and Victoria will be locked in the demon world forever.

I rip the chest plate off and take a dagger off my belt.

"Are you really going to try to kill me with a little dagger." She sneered.

"No, quite the opposite actually. I lift the dagger an plunge it into my heart.

"Allie." I hear several voices scream at once. I think I recognize lanes and my mothers among them.

Falling to my knees I see the scarlet stream flowing. My body feels numb. I think I fell all the way but I'm not sure.

All of a sudden I'm seeing myself. I see myself on the ground, blood around me. I see my family and friends yelling and trying to save me.

But one scene really caught my attention. Victoria is fading. She's clawing at her skin and screaming.

I must have broken the strings. People are just staring at her body as her arms and legs are shackled and fading.

I hear her scream one more time and she explodes. She's gone. The cycle is broken at last.

I've never been more happy watching my siblings grow up and my friends live from here. Lane joined me five years after me from a rogue incident. Mother cam a couple weeks after from a heart attack. All four siblings found someone to love and are living happy lives. I found out terra got here before me so I've spent a lot of time with her. The businessman's son found someone to love in the fox girl I trained with. I'm with lane, mother, and terra awaiting the return of everyone else and I haven't been happier.
