She was so skinny you could count her ribs easily. There wasn't a spot on her body that wasn't covered in a bruise or dried blood. I felt bad for kicking her. I could see the fresh bruise forming on her right side under her breast.
"I'm sorry I kicked you." I gently apologized.
"It's okay. I would of did the same thing. I'm sorry if I walked into your territory. I didn't smell any markers." Her voice didn't tremble in fear so I took that as a good thing.
"I don't make markers. If I did a wolf could smell it was made from a cat and would kill us." She looked confused for a moment.
"Us? There's more of you? I thought cats were rare and alone." She flinched when I glared at her. I couldn't believe we were rare now. We used to outnumber all the other species, including the wolves, vampires, and elves.
"Where did they all go?" My voice cracked a little.
"Shane's pack wiped them out."
"Shane's pack? I thought there was only one pack, Zane's pack."
"Shane is Zane'a brother. About four years ago Shane challenged Zane for alpha and lost. He was angry so he left taking half the pack with him and waged war. Both packs asked the other species for help. Everyone took a side but the cats. He knew if the cats took Zane's side he would lose for sure so he did the most sure way to make sure they didn't. Shane told his pack they were demons and he's been trying to wipe them out ever since." I almost started crying but held it in.
"Did you come from Shane's pack?" I asked
"Yes." She whispered looking down at her bare feet.
"Let's go and get you some cloths." I led her to my cave and slipped inside. Everyone was still asleep but they'll wake soon now that the sun is up. I sook a pair of sweats and a hoodie from my bag a gave it to her. After she dressed I gave her some meat and put her in my bed. She had just fallen asleep when mother walked up beside me.
"You did a good thing helping her. Even though she's a wolf I can tell she's a good person." My mother is so wise sometimes. I nodded my head and woke the kids up. They didn't see Terra so I decided to tell them after I got them clean. Leading them to the stream I had the boys go further down so they didn't see the girls undressed.
"Why do we have to take a bath?" Brianna pouted when I finally got her into the water.
"So that we're clean and healthy, duh." Kristianna answered before I could.
"I didn't ask you Kristianna." Bree stuck her tongue out at her.
"Allie tell her to keep her tongue in her mouth." Kristi complained while crossing her arms and sighing.
"Both of you behave. I have a guest back at the cave for you to meet so I want you clean."
"A GUEST?!?!?" They both shouted at the same time. After explaining it to them they cleaned themselves up and dresses, bouncing with excitement. After fetching the boys and making sure they got clean properly I took them back to the cave. Before letting them walk in I stopped them.
"Be on your best behavior. I know she's a wolf but she should be treated just like you would a cat." They all tnodded in agreement and scrambled in the cave to meet Terra
