'I could hold the universe in the palm of my hands, and I would give it away in the blink of an eye to hold your hand instead'

You're sat in the window, watching the sun go down; writing in your diary, when you hear a knock at the door. You feel butterflies emerge within your stomach as you hop up, shooting out your new, black dress. You practically run downstairs to answer the door, opening it to see..."Evie." You sigh and walk away, flopping down on the couch.
"Dont be too excited to see me then!" She sits down next to you, holding your hand in hers. "How are you feeling about tonight?" A huge smile grows on your lips as you think of what your night with Bucky could be, "excited. Scared. I've never felt like this before."
You place your head on Evelyn's shoulder, letting out a sigh.
"Aww y/n, it'll be okay, he's so sweet and kind and charming." You think about Bucky, and how he is all of those things- "oh you can't forget devilishly handsome." You add, causing her to do a very sarcastic gasp. "Y/n! I'm shocked,"

"So am I. A nice confidence boost though, thankyou darlin'." You quickly turn to see that Evie had left the front door open and Bucky was stood in the doorway. "Shall we?" He offers out a hand, you stand up and make your way round to him, his eyes scanning you the entire time, a mischievous smirk spread across his face. You take his arm, leaving the house. Knowing Evie will definitely 100% be ransacking your cupboards for the good food. As you reach the bottom of the steps, Bucky whispers in your ear, "you look simply ravishing doll." Making you're cheeks flush bright red.

"Put this on." Bucky holds up a blindfold, "I have a surprise." You're hesitant but the excitement in his eyes makes it hard to say no. The chatter of surrounding couples fades as he leads you to the unknown. When you finally stop, the sound of water filling your ears. He gently takes off the blindfold, and you see a beautifully set dinner. A wicker basket sat upon the blanket, surrounded by candles on the beach. You place a hand over your mouth as it gapes open. "I love it Buck. I really do."
"I asked Evelyn where your favourite place was. She seemed shocked that I was planning ahead." He chuckled slightly, rubbing the back of his head. This time you were the one making him blush, as you placed a kiss on his cheek.

You spend the night talking and laughing together, lay on the beach watching the night sky. His arms wrapped around you. You felt safe and like you had finally found what was missing. "When do you have to leave..." you turn, propping yourself up on his chest. "I dont know yet, when they need me I guess." He didn't meet your gaze, he just stared up at the sky. You close your eyes, your hand placed on his chest. You could always feel peoples emotions when touching them. But you weren't expecting the fear Bucky was feeling. You gasped as the pain shot up your arm. You sat up, pulling your knees to your chest, staring out at the sea. It hurt more knowing that he was putting on a brave face, no matter how strong he acted, he was just a person. Everyone has fears, his was the war. "Y/n? Whats wrong darling?" He sat up, a concerned look on his face. "I'm scared too... please come back to me." Your voice was practically a whisper, but you know he heard. He placed his hand on the small of your back. "I promise." Was all he said, you closed your eyes once more as his hand rested on your back. This time the feeling was overwhelming. Filling you from head to toe with a warmth, with love. You smiled, knowing he would keep his promise, he would come back to you.

It was late when he waked you home, holding your hand, twirling you in the dim light of the street. As you stood on your doorstep, saying goodbye, he leant in closer. You moved in slightly too as he filled the last of the gap between both of your lips. Kissing you gently yet full of passion, your hands wandered up to his hair as his cupped your cheek. Your foot lifting from the floor. When the kiss finally ended, you couldn't remove the smile from your face.

When you got back inside, you leant against the door after it had closed, biting your lip, your heart doing flips. The light in the kitchen was on, you went through to Evie, sat eating a bowl of cereal. "Oh Evie! It was perfect." You sat next to her, grabbing a bowl and pouting some cereal for yourself.
"I know he is!" The excitement in her voice filled the room, "he asked me for all your favourite things, he really tried y/n." She clasped her hands together, she looked like a kid in a candy store, her eyes wide. "I think he's the one for me Evie, I really do." She squealed and clapped and hugged you tight.

That night, you sat in your window, writing in your diary once more.

I've spent almost a thousand years alone. Without my family or stability. I never realised how much it affected me till now. Till he showed me what a great live could be. I'm not one for fate or a greater power, but he's making me believe in love. Maybe it was written in the stars all along, maybe thats why I've spent so long alone. Maybe, just maybe this could be my great love story.
