(Olivia POV)
Today's the day! I think as I throw on a sweatshirt and leggings. This is it! I rush down the hallway, Today's the first day of boarding school! I pass my little brother, who does not want to go. I slide into a seat and grab a box of cereal. "I'm so excited!" I exclaim. My mom is making dinner before she goes to work. She looks up and giggles. My dad comes downstairs, turning to me.
"How did you get into this program?" I take a bite of cereal, shrugging at my dad.
"I don't know," I say, taking another bite.
"Also, you won't see us again until Christmas." My mom says, chopping up a carrot.
"Yeah," I nod, finishing my cereal and getting up.
"Well, do you have everything you need?"
"Yeah," I say, watching my mom finish chopping up the vegetables for tonight's dinner-a dinner that I won't be apart of.
"Ok then, I guess we should go." I grab my bag off the floor and follow mom out the front door. A chilly September breeze blows its way through my long, brown hair. I get into the front seat, next to my mom. By brother clambers into the back, grumbling something about how he doesn't want to go to school.
The car ride to the school was way too quiet. It didn't feel right. I tried to say something, but I couldn't seem to find the right words. Finally, I spoke.
"I'll miss you, I'll write every day."
"Thanks, sweetheart. Good to know that I will hear from you. I don't know what I will do without you, I will be so bored." She smiles at my brother and me.
"You will be fine, " I say, smiling back. I open the door and step onto the sidewalk. Closing the car door, I stare up at the huge school. Then, I walk towards the front steps, knowing I wouldn't see my family again until Christmas Day.
