(Jayden POV)

Mr. Andrews tells us to split into groups of three so we can get to know each other. Olivia calls me over to where she and Ashley are sitting, as Ashley turns on the huge monitor in front of her. It shows the school's crest before opening the main page, which leads to a Google page. She smiles mischievously and types in an unknown URL and searches it."What are you doing?" Olivia asks, questioning Ashley's fast typing and flashing screens."Entering the far reaches of the internet." She says, continuing to type. She highlights the viruses and orders them into a grid. Suddenly, the entire screen glows green and Google reopens, but there are five live chats on the side and a web page analyzer on the other side. She types a string of code into the chat and sends it. That's when I realize that Ashley's not speaking English on that computer anymore."What is that?""Computer language. Encoded text. Something that can be universally translated."Both Olivia and I know why she was accepted now. She's a computer genius. "I can talk to coders and organizations from all over the world, I can even disguise myself as a hacker to help protect others if I choose to." She pauses. "This connection is its own country. It doesn't abide by any government's laws, it belongs to nobody. The government passes through here once in a while to send out alerts, but this is never noticed. It's like a secret society."Olivia giggles. "From what I've heard, it is a secret society."She smiles. "Well, whatever it is, it's got a lot of power, of which I intend to use." We watch as she talks to different people, most of them try to bargain with her for money and drugs. She always responded by saying she didn't have to if she didn't want to. We come across many people."Does this have a name?" Olivia asks."I want to call it the Dark Web, due to the government not knowing about it and the number of shady people on there," Ashley responds. When the bell rings, she carefully erases everything on the server, leaving it as it was before they used it. She flashes a smile before running ahead with the others."I had no idea she was like that, especially such a clumsy girl like her," I say, watching as she disappears up the stairs."Why would you call her clumsy?""She left all of her stuff on the table." I indicate where she was sitting. Olivia giggles."I'll carry her stuff, we have the same classes next." I smile. Maybe this year won't be so bad. But, I was underestimating how long this year would last.
