(Jayden POV)

The school dinners aren't anything special, and they don't taste the best, but I eat anyway. I'll do anything to distract myself from the possibility that a class before us disappeared at random. I look at the faces around me-unknowing of what the three of us had discovered. I hoped that we'd be able to survive this school year.

I think back to the yearbook. My late aunt was in seventh grade in 1955. Something clicks then and there. Michelle was in this boarding school in 1955; meaning that she was there. There's one piece of the puzzle that we're missing; it connects everything, but we can't find that answer. I think. I barely sleep, thinking about how everything adds up, yet puzzled over the missing piece of the puzzle. But, no matter how hard I think about it, nothing makes sense.

Both Olivia and Ashley look as tired as I feel when we head to breakfast the next morning.

"You guys didn't get much sleep either, did you?" I ask, looking at the packaged cereal on my tray, hoping it would turn into an adequate breakfast.

"Nope," Ashley replies, smiling. "But, I got us all a little energy." She places three steaming coffee cups on the table.

"Where'd you get this?" I ask as I take a few sips of the bitter liquid.

"I got up early and snuck out to the place down the road. I know everything is new, but I needed energy, and I was willing to break the rules to get it." She raises her cup. "A quick toast to the liquid energy called coffee!!" We laugh, finishing our breakfast in a brighter mood. Today, we'll start getting work from our teachers, though. I realize that the rest of this week is going to be difficult the second I step into my social studies class and see the piles of packets stacked on the teacher's desk.

By the end of the day, we have a ton of work to complete. I realize that it will be hard to get anything figured out if nobody has time to do so. I didn't know just how prestigious this school was. This is going to be harder than I expected, I think, looking at the gray ceiling in my dorm room. Little did I know that things would get a lot harder in the months to come.

A/N-Hi! Sorry for being gone yesterday! School is exhausting and I had a lot of work to do. But, luckily, I have time to update for all of you guys! I'll be posting a few chapters after this. --Laura S.
