(Olivia POV)

The walls, smeared in slime, and the floors are moldy. The smell, though, was the worst part.

"It was the bacteria." I hear Jayden mumble as I cover my face and step inside. The door at the back of the room is broken, and there's faint blood spatters on the floor. People got killed here. Ashley follows me inside, covering her face with the hood of her jacket. Jayden follows reluctantly, trying to look somewhere that isn't covered in the moldy slime. We walk up the stairs and into the main hall. Everything is coated in mold and slime. We walk for a little while, and still, there's nobody in sight. Something cracks beneath my feet. I look down and pick up a pair of twisted, broken glasses.

"We should go to our dorms. Nobody's here," I say, turning to face the others.

"It might not be safe out here," Ashley says. "Don't get me wrong, I'd love to take the other route, but I realize that now isn't the time for me to be excited about some deadly adventure, so we should take the Tunnels."

"We should go back through the building. I want to see if anyone is left," I say.

"It's safer, and we can get there faster," Ashley argues. "If you're not coming, I'll leave you here and go the safer way." She turns around and walks back. I stand there for a moment, stunned. Then, I follow her.

"I guess you're right, but if anyone out there dies because I couldn't save them, it's on you," I say, watching as Ashley opens the passageway, and Jayden and I follow her inside.

"Nobody out there is going to die." She mumbles. "There isn't anyone left to kill." It seemed that I was the only one who heard her say that, so I stayed silent and followed her down the Tunnel. We walk in silence until we reach the air vent that leads to the dorms.  When she opens the trapdoor, everything is the same; mold everywhere, except only in the rooms the others were sleeping in. We walk down the hall to our dorms, noticing that everything in our rooms was the same as how we'd left it. I have no idea why the bacteria avoided our rooms, but I'm glad it did.
